Got sent this announcement from Spectrum Communications, who is doing PR for Asus in Australia:

ASUS' back to school deal is available from 7th February until 20th March 2011. Any customer who purchases a U31F-RX112X from a participating stockist during this period will receive a voucher for a two for one repeat use movie pass, valid for 12 months. The movie pass is redeemable by mail and can be used at all Event Cinemas, the number one cinema chain in Australia which includes all Greater Union, Village, and Birch Carroll and Coyle cinemas.

It retails for $999 and $939 in Centrecom. What is a "participating stockist" would be a good question when you shop though. As of the notebook itself,

  • Core i5-480M
  • 4GB DDR3
  • 500GB 5400RPM HDD
  • 13.3" LED display
  • 8 cell battery for up to 10 hours battery life
  • 1.88kg

How it gets 5600mAh battery to last 10 hours is beyond me, but it's a nice looking portable machine.

    i think a movie pass is a poor substitute for lowering the price or even a rebate

    why is it repeat use??? shouldn't it be unlimited use for 12months if thats the case? I think the pass is VALID for 12months, meaning you can use it within 12months…but I think the movie pass only applies TWICE hence, Repeat use.
