Where Do I Get Cheap Japanese Green Tea in Australia?

I drink probably 150g-200g of green tea a month. There was a sale at Maruyu for $3.30 ($6.60 RRP) for 200g of bancha and I was greedy and hoped it would fall further because it was about to hit the expiry date. They ran out. Regret not buying it then immensely.

Now how to I get a big quantity of bancha at a low price? I found this on AliBaba, but the minimum order is 20kg, which would be a bit much, even for me. Ideally I'd get 2kg, but I want to be sure it's actually Japanese green tea.

There is a little Japanese convenience store in a little arcade at the back of the town hall woolies called Conveni 8. Might be worth a look

  • Based on your post and the amount you drink, the total difference in price that you'll be paying between what you consider "cheap" and "not cheap" is only +/- a cup of coffee each month.

This sort of thing, when I see it for too cheap, I actually wonder what's in there or how they can sell it for so cheap. eg what they use to process the leaves etc.

I'd just pay the extra few dollars each month for something I know is of okay quality.

  • Ito en apparently has its online shop opened.
