Best Mealpal Discounts

I signed up to mealpal when this deal was on https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/384125

Personally I don't see it as good value when charged full price ($8 per meal for 12 meals which I have 30 days to use), while it's cheap for the food on offer you lose a lot of flexibility, you cant eat what you want when you want.

So after signing up to the above deal, i immediately cancelled to stop it autorenewing. Just before the last day in the period, they send me a $20 off code. The codes they send are generally only valid until the end of the day, to pressure you into signing up. I decided i wasn't interested, but a few days later I signed up to an offer they sent through for meals at $5.49 (31% discount). I again immediately cancelled to prevent autorenewing. This process repeated after the month, and now i am in the middle of my second month.

A colleague of mine signed up last month at full price, and was offered a 40% discount on the second month

What discounts are the ozbargain community getting? If I hold off longer when they offer me meals at $5.49 will I get the 40% discount?

tl;dr - what is the best discount people are getting for mealpal renewal

Mod: Removed refererral solicitation.

I created an account on Mealpal but didn't order anything. 3 days later I received a $40 off voucher for 12 meals in 30 days.

  • I haven't seen any discounts / codes greater than those already mentioned.

Re the flexibility etc., I don't have a problem with the offering. Get to work, browse nearby offerings (probably 30+ within a two block radius), choose one and then just pick it up at lunch time. It's just a routine now.

    • I'd definitely recommend cancelling to get the discounts

  • im wondering what is mealpal, however it doesnt let me browse the participating restaurant, forced me to sign up and give my credit card details
do you know how can i skip this and just to see what is available in my area.

  • that's explain why im not on the same boat, thanks!

  • Once we cancel the account and if we decide to rejoin can we still use the offers or is it just for first time users?

    • It's really ad hoc, they'll offer you discounts directly if you're not signed up

  • So I discontinued my mealpal for about a month, they've been spamming me 40% off vouchers, today they sent through a $50 off deal that i've signed up to, that's my best so far, can't complain $3.80 a meal

Edit - also, i don't see how this business model is sustainable, so i'm assuming they'll go under at some point and i'll lose a bunch of pre-purchased meals.

  • Was just offered $100 Coles gift card for signing up for 2 months, making it about $5/meal.

  • Best offer I've had so far today - buy one month get one free, no messing around with cashback, but still running the risk they'll be insolvent in a month

  • Are there any promos around currently?

I think the best way to get a promo is to sign up for an account, but don't buy anything. after a few days they'll send you a discount code
