Credit Cards - Domestic Car Rental Excess Waiver/Excess

Hello Everyone!

Is there any credit card that covers the excess for domestic rental car hire?

I thought my CBA card did - when I called to inquire I was put through to Allianz who told me that only covered the excess for car hire overseas,.

    I thought this was a good link, until I discovered it is missing a heap of cards that have domestic access cover.

    In my experience so far hire car cover ($5000 cover for $250 excess) has been with:

    BankSA / StGeorge Amplify
    ANZ Black and Platinum
    Westpac Black

    I have a CBA diamond card - rang up CBA who put me in touch with Allianz (their insurer). Allianz advise that only the excess on overseas car rental is covered - not domestic.

  Be careful with these excess reductions and read the fine print.

  On my NAB Platinum card, you didn't actually need to pay for the car rental with teh CC, but you did need to pay for the flights with the CC…really confusing and couunter intuitive but i would have found myself pretty screwed if i'd had a car accident while technically not protected
