'best network in Australia' doesn't say much for the quality of Australian telcos

    • +1

Yea. But at least they have rural service

      • +4

89% of Australia’s population live in the cities. The other telcos are financially justified not to invest in costly rural infrastructure with small returns.

    Optus deal much,much better. lol

    • The equivalent deal from optus would be between the $115pm (40gb) or the $132 (100gb).
They are without the Tab A.

I have been with Optus before, and not just disappointed with their network speed and coverage, also with their customer service.
My plan was with 25% off deal, however they somehow failed to honor it and charge me 100%.
For some reason they also didn't send the order details, so I am left with no clues.

I did however eventually manage to get them honor the deal, after hours of arguing on telephone.

They are bandits. I would use stronger word. But this message may be deleted.

I was with Telstra, better service in my area and hills in Adelaide with Optus. I find the customer service with Telstra bad.

Not sure where your info is from. The thread on ozbargain shows $91 for 512gb galaxy 9 100gb per month Happy to be prov3d wrong.

        • @Bimo: so you haven't even bothered following the link on the ozbargain thread i assume. Clearly shows $91 100 gb per month 24 months at hn. What can you see that I cant?

        • @bluebagger1: Yes I did not see the link, as you clearly said Optus not HN. $48 difference is quite a lot. Go with Optus blue.

For me, I justify by the tablet with $20-25pm value, and the $23-28 extra for Tesltra's performance.
And then there is that $200 gift card from JB…

    • Just because Optus deal is better doesn't mean it's best. Optus and voda in my area is the worst! Telstra being way better signal and usability literally zero deadspots

  • Great deal - almost a year of my mobile phone and internet (using Telstra network) in a single month.

    • Aldi doesn't have 4GX

  • -5

Who is doing all the neging? How is the Telstra deal remotely better than the Optus deal at $91 100 gb per month?

    • its better if you're in an area not served well by optus

      • -2

Because it covers a few more people in remote areas doesn’t make it a better deal for the overwhelming majority that are covered by Optus. Sure if that minority can only get Telstra tnen yes it is a better deal for them.

    24 month, minimum cost $3,096.

Appreciate the positive votes. Gone from -1 to +1 haha

    • -1

Should have well enough alone as they say haha. Still nobody has been able to show how me how the Telstra deal beats the Optus deal.

  • +2

I'd wait, Telstra will reassess their plans.
At the moment they have no idea what the market wants and they are scrambling with bonus data and $10 off here and there.
There brainwave on removing data sharing plans for consumers is just plain stupid.
I am associated with Telstra but ashamed to click the box

    • +2

keep waiting. i see it for last 8 years at least

  • Is the tablet wifi version or 4g version?
With that rrp I'm going to guess 4g… great work offering a tablet that won't even data share with the massive amount of data that comes with the phone lol

  • Don't forget - the 'bonus' tablet only stays as a bonus as long as you don't pay out your plan early… Otherwise you're up for the device repayment payout for both the mobile AND the tablet

      incorrect

The tab is a Telstra exclusive
its a gift with no plan attached
      Source. I work for them

      • I take back my statement then!
Makes the deal slightly better, sell off the tablet ($200?)

  • is it a lease or outright own

    • Its a buy (own at the end)
if you go to the deal you can click on Buy or lease for the different pricing.

are people seriously paying this much per month for phone plans?? what are you using with all that data and talk time?

    • they pay for the privilege of having poor financial literacy

  • +1

20% off Optus plans at Harvey Norman until 2nd Sep smashes this deal out of the park. Plus you get $10 off a data sim plan so can get the Tab A 8.0 for $15 per month.

  • Anyone know if outright purchases are eligible for the bonus tablet?

  • To answer my own question in case anyone else was looking to buy outright.

I just checked with my telstra store and they said the phone is not available to preorder outright so the offer won't apply.

  • Is telstra model a Hybrid Sim model?

    • nope

      • <insert sad panda face> because the hybrid sim/microSD card slot is only 2g? Can't find info on it..
