  • If your current plan hasn't run out yet, can you buy this and then activate it later on?

    • +3

Voucher expires at 11:59pm AEST on 04/10/2018. Activation must be made before the voucher expiry date. Voucher does not apply to subsequent recharges.

      • +1

Valid for new Kogan Mobile customers only.

It appears you have to port out for 1 month then you are considered a new customer. See this comment here.

Dumb as dog$#!^. Easier for me to keep my In-Laws on an Amaysim $10/month plan if they are as intelligent as this with their rules. I'm using this plan myself - but I'll happily 'walk' at the end of the 12 months if this is the level of intelligence that they are going to apply to retaining existing customers.

…If there is one thing that OzBargain has taught me, it is that customer DISloyalty is the only way to get the better deals.

          Over to you Ruslan.

          @lostincanberra:

Ditto. Perhaps should look at Lebara next, similar pricing, owned by Vodafone and they allow stacking up.

        • +2

@uk3000: Lebara has unlimited international calls as well so it is better value than Kogan.

      • I bought this a month or two ago. My plan from last year ended on July 31st but I activated my new 365day plan on July 30. So it doesn't look like you have to be out of a contract. You just need to activate it by the date specified.

EDIT: Their T&Cs say otherwise… so each to their own I guess.

        • yeah, that's how i remembered it worked…last 2 years I purchase these "for new customers' only vouchers and it worked as recharge.

        • Yeah you just need to use the voucher before it expires, but they don't stack and you lose out on the old one if it hadn't finished yet.

it says new customer plan. i am with kogan, can i recahrge it.

    • Do you know what "new customer" means?

      • "new" customer plan

  • Is this on Optus network?

    • +1

      Kogan uses Vodafone network.

      • Thanks.

  • How does Kogan/Vodafone compare with Optus and Telstra in terms of coverage/network access?

I'm currently with Amaysim and totally not happy with coverage/network access..

    Will Kogan be better?

    • +2

Depends on location but Voda is much better than Optus for me.

      • Yeah I really sure have noted I'm in SA.

        • If you live south or north I wouldn't. Got a friend who lives south and doesn't get the best reception. I live central and have no issues, no difference between the bigger companies.

    • +1

I'm Sydney to central coast… I get one more bar of reception on Optus, about 60% of the time. Vodafone is great in the city, but so is Optus… I'd buy a cheap Optus sim, and try it for a day in the areas where you live/work/drive. I've got a dual SIM phone, so it's really easy for me to compare, I find voda drops out on the freeway more and doesn't work as well in my mates house. None of which may apply to you, if you're not in the same area!

  • Kogan charges $15 per month if you want call forwarding.

  • I'm on around $13 a month for 7GB with Kogan.

    • +1

I got mine for about $9. That was from all the voucher stacking. Don’t think we’ll ever see that price again :(

      • You never really appreciate something until it's gone.

    • Paid $170 for a 16gb voucher.. Crazy good will never get that again but honestly I don't think I need more than 3gb..i mean unless I decide to start watching lots of Netflix or YouTube on the train but I have been conditioned already not to.

    Paid $115 in July..

This 'new customer' requirement is BS!

As an initial service it's pretty hassle free but not being able to easily top up your service and now this new customer requirement is really making me think about just porting to another provider.

    • +1

My 12 month Kogan 16gb plan ends soon so I'm porting out for a month with this deal, then I will be a new customer -
Catch Connect (Optus Network) | $0.99 for 30 Days | 15GB Data | Unlimited Talk & Text | New Customers

      • +1

Cheers for that mate. I think I will do the 90 day one though…

        https://catchconnect.com.au/products/mobile/90-day-promotion…

30 days is cutting it a bit tight for my liking and this will give me a bigger window for a 365 day, 7Gb Kogan Mobile plan discount.

I think cycling between Catch Connect and Kogan Mobile will be the strategy going forward.

        • +2

Yeah I bought the 90 day one today as well, so will use that instead.
          What a bargain for $10.00.

        • +1

          @WatchNerd: Yeah, I thought $15 was already a good price… $10 is better.

I've shamefully not been a cash rewards user thus far so between the referral link I used and the referral link I've passed to my bro (who also needs to get this 90 day Catch Connect sim for when his girlfriend visits from overseas in October/November), I should get a total of $25 cash back when including referrals.

In my bro's case, he gets the thing for free and I'll make money from using it.

Now, I hope Kogan do up a decent deal sometime in late Nov.

    • Yeah. My service finishes up ends of September, I'm pretty happy with Vodafone at the moment so if Kogan doesn't come up with anything for existing customers, TPG has some half price prepaid for 6 months offerings (again, for new customers) that are looking pretty good (I'm on 3gb at the moment, so the $10 for 4gb is a good deal, for the 6 months anyway)

As much as I didn't like em when I left due to having to argue to get my $20 deposit (as it was called when I signed up) back, these prepaid deals don't have this requirement or any auto top-up as far as I can see. Will just have to see if they are still offering this come end of September.

  • Used the referral link to take $10 off this as well!
    Thanks OP!
