Choice for 7.1KW Split AirCon (Mitsubishi Electric vs Fujitsu Vs Mitsubishi Heavy Industries)

Hello Folks,

I am based out of Melbourne VIC and looking to buy a 7.1KW Split Aircon for my living area (connected to dining and lounge) and kind of confused with following options in hand:

  • Mitsubishi Electric (~1450)
  • Fujitsu (~1440)
  • Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (~1600)

The above price includes respective cashbacks and would incur additional cost of installation around $825. Open to suggestions/inputs if found any better deals.

I have heard of Mitsubishi HE unit (also sold at bunnings) being very quiet but apart from that no major differences across these brands. Also unsure of what is difference between Mitsubishi Heavy industries vs Electric?

Does anyone know of any stand-out or unique features (like aesthetics, intelligent cooling etc.) or any other inputs for any of these brands which may assist in decision making?

Appreciate your time and assistance.

Cheers,
Andy

I have 2 Fujitsu splits, A big one in my living area and a smaller one in the bedroom and no issues at all.

  • got a •Mitsubishi installed no issues

also try asking the installer the price if they source the machine, they got me a cracker of a price as they usually get it at wholesale prices

    • what was your itemise price? i.e. unit cost + installation?

    • which Mitsubishi? HE or Electric as these are two different companies.

$825 to installation is steep if you're out the West, last summer I got a 3.5kw and 7.1kw installed for just over a grand, including removing out the old boxed unit in the living room, installer is fully qualified. The going price for standard back to back is around $550 around melbourne west. If you're interested PM me for details.

As for brand I have Panasonic and MHE and I found Panasonic better, my MHE one a bit noise when start up and whenever compressor crank down it make a bit of squeaky noise. Also the Panasonic remote is well recogonised by my Broadlink IR remote so I don't have to manually set up every button on the virtual remote app (and you can almost tell Google Home to turn your air con into specific settings, like "OK google set my air con at 22 degree heating").

    • Thanks, can you please share links for or any other suggestions for good IR remote including Broadlink?

      • i have the broadlink blackbean and the pro version (the triangle shape one) and both are pretty much the same, the pro one can do some garage type transmission but given that most garage door now use rolling code then it's pretty much useless for that purpose.

    • Hi,
I'm planning to get my aircon installed in Jan/Feb 2019.
i live in wyndham and im getting quotes around 600ish excluding the wall mounting brackets for a standard install.

could you please ping me your installer's details.

      Thanks in advance!

  • Go Panasonic.

  • Just had 7.1 Heavy Mitsubishi installed because it was efficient on Choice data. installer said Fujitsu equally good but look better as about third the size of mine. Maybe worth having a look at both units prior to making decision.

    • Agreed, the MHI is a massive indoor wall unit so if space is a concern then you may want to measure up and take a look first.

  • I got a MHI 7.1 installed in Jan, good unit no issues. Installer managed to get me the same price Bunnings had it for which was the cheapest ($1400ish) i think so I went with him. Worth checking out Bunnings, you can do special order for it I believe and its the same unit they sell at GoodGuys with a different model number used so you cant price beat etc. Also got cash back on top of that from mitsubishi.

  • Can anyone post or send me aircon and installer price and details. I live in Wyndham and want to get it installed ASAP.

    • I am also in the same boat. Looking to purchase and install a 7.1 and 2.5kw systems in Pascoe Vale. Any tips on good installers much appreciated! Thanks
