Google Daydream View (Orig) $59 JB Hi-Fi, Pickup Only, Limited Availability

120

Genuine Google Daydream View, original model (slate), not the newer 2017 model. Good price if you're near a store that still has one. No deliveries, sadly.

I see availability at JB Hifi stores in:

  • Glendale NSW
  • Kotara NSW
  • Robina QLD
  • Toowoomba QLD

YMMV.

This reminds that I need to sell the one I got from the Telstra deal a while ago. Used it a couple times and never again lol

Me too.. ☺as well as the overpriced case we bought to get this as free. My phone gets so hot and auto turns off as a safety measure.

I've got 2 Gear VR headsets sitting away, both pre-order bonuses from my S7 edge and S8. I used the S7 one once, and the S8 one is still sealed. I really should have sold them straight away. Probably worth next to nothing now lol.

      • I picked one up for $25 from local opshop last week, was opened but appeared virtually unused. Pretty cool for the money actually. Thing is it only works with the wife's phone.

Also have the Daydream View still in its box, sealed, cant use that as don't have a compatible phone.

Sounds like your "half in luck",….and "half out of luck".

Not missing too much from the sound of it lol.

      • Let me know if you wish to sell one/both of those I'm in Oakford (WA)

Same here. Probably only used the day I got it.

    • how much?

Remind me how many Telstra's deal I have missed :(

    • That's what everyone does with mobile phone virtual reality.

    • i'll buy it for 20 :)

      • Postage from Perth would cost more than that. Ps. You should add your location to your profile.

Pps. Feel free to PM me if you'll post to Melbourne.

The model you posted is the older version of the Daydream, available in slate.
The newer (2017) version is available in Charcoal, https://www.jbhifi.com.au/google/google-daydream-view-vr-hea…

Yeah good point, I'll edit to make that clearer.

  • used it once or twice. Not worth it.

Bought one from Telstra and the parcel box hasn't been opened yet.

  • Judging by most of the comments, you wonder if VR (or AR for that matter) will ever catch on.

Like most emerging tech, the idea is better than the reality for quite a while.

Google Earth in VR though, is the best thing ever. I have spent many hours on it with my WMR headset.
Microsoft's Galaxy Explorer is awesome too, but it's quite limited in content.

  • What are the best VR apps to download on IOS?

  • Great price, but I still use and prefer the Gear VR. Great unit that.

I had a quick search of previous posts. It was $25.20 or $28 at Telstra back in October. This is still a good price, though.

I picked up the newer version in April for $80 from a Telstra Shop. I can't remember where I found out about it. It was sold out online but I found one instore. It was marked at full price but it scanned up at $80.

It still shows as $80 (and still sold out) on Telstra's site. If you are interested in paying an extra $29 to get the newer version it might be worth having a look in your Telstra Shop before you pop in to JB.

  • Love my Daydream and actually use it with my Pixel 2 XL.

    BUT

NOT comfortable the only way to keep it on and not fogging up requires a very tight strap imprinting the edge of the Daydream into your face for an hour after.

Can only use it in short bursts.

The apps and videos etc. available now are simply amazing.

Yeah the fogging in my Gear VR is a bit of a pain, some tips at the link below.

Seems heating with a hairdryer prior to use as well as antifog wipes are the way to go. There's also some literal "bandaid" solution in the link but Im not sure if that is legit or a pisstake.
