  • Now this is what I call a bargain!

I'd say it's a price war - in Woolies last night in Glenhuntly (Vic) they had them for $0.99

    • There is probably plenty of stock.

  • Excellent price.

  • +3

    all stores. also available online.

    • Good news.

    • +2

Yep, can confirm Coles Pyrmont too. There was lots of them

  • Time to Make strawberry jam. At the same time I wonder how much the farmers get per punnet.

    • +1

Probably the same they always get?

I wonder what the normal markup is on these…

  • Nice! Thanks OP!

  • A very good price, brings it closer to my local fruit shop price ($1.79 for 500g).

    • +1

That's really cheap, however, you may get what you paid for. I bought 2 x 500g for $5, looked ripe but tasted very bland

      • Every week we buy them from the same place, maybe twice a year they might go bad prematurely, otherwise they last all week and everyone loves them.

I happened to go by BigFields at Watergardens (VIC) tonight and saw 99c for 500g, or 3 x 500g for $2.50. I got some to make smoothies all weekend.

    • That's irresistible.

  • Available at Coles Edensor Park (Sydney south west), so possibly state/nationwide?

Funny, cause they're also advertising 3 for $5 from the same pile

  • Singleton NSW Also, picked op 3 this Morning :)

  • +1

    Crows Nest profiteering - 2 for $3.

Edit: Sorry thought it was Woollies. WOW Crows Nest is 2 for $3. Price Match?

    • +1

WOW Crows Nest has fallen into line and is charging a $1 per punnet now.

  • "Great", free poison.

  • 0.99 at Aldi.

  • +1

They are $1 at Coles world square too.

I know this is not in the spirit of ozbargain but these colesworth cheapo strawberries are pretty shit tasting. Quite bland and usually sour although they look massive and ripe.

They both carry a premium version though that usually costs about $4 per punnet. These are sweet and actually taste of strawberries.

    • bland, sour, massive and ripe

Say no more, say no moreā€¦

Most strawberries are picked way too early. Strawberries ripen(turning red) from TIP of fruit to the STEM. So if your red strawberry has the top part still pale and whitish, chances are it was picked way too early.

Once picked too early the fruit stops developing the sweetness and flavour and unlike bananas which can be picked green and exposed to ethylene gas to ripen and sweeten, strawberries cant be ripened with that method.

Redness can be enhanced with carbon dioxide gas but that doesn't improve sweetness or flavour/aroma.

  • Merged from Coles Strawberries Prepacked $1 250gm ($4 Per kg)

    • 3 for $5 in Vermont, VIC.

      • Do you get dropdown box to select 1 for $1 ?

    • Yes, got some at this price at Woolies Alexandria. The 350g was also on "sale" for $1.90 or whatever it was.

    • Can confirm Aldi also has them for $0.99!

  • Got some just now at Coles Kurri Kurri NSW.

  • Picked some up from Coles Rouse Hill NSW.
I literally about to submit the same bargain, lucky I searched for it first.. strange how the Coles website is still showing 3 for $5 or $1.80ea, yet the iPhone app reflects the in-store ticketed price.

  • In Hornsby Coles too

  • Thanks OP! Just went to Coles Concord and there were plenty for sale.

  • Not in SA, 3 punnets for $5 at Coles, Castle Plaza.
