Free Entry to The Science Centre at The Brisbane Museum Tomorrow - 20/2 - (Check Text)

300

Tomorrow as part of the re-opening of the Cultural Centre at SouthBank, the Science Centre at the Brisbane Museum has free admission. It's normally $12 for adults, $10 for concession and $9 for kids so while it's not a huge saving it still counts as a bargain as far as I'm concerned!
I know it doesn't leave a lot of time for planning, but if you don't have other things to do it could be a good outing for the kids.

MOD EDIT - This looks like its expired on the 19th, but saxlady says they told her at entry it continues today. Check postings below for all details and decide yourself. BTW it appears while it's free, they do ask for a "donation" to the flood appeal, which is your choice

Marge: How about a family outing?
Bart: A family outing? I'll start. Lisa's gay!

Damn good value :) A plus from me!

  • An experiment was carried out…

  • Can someone confirm this?

I've searched the internet intensively using real time media and new updated content for the last week but nothing comes up about this free entry.

I rang up the number listed on the web page and the recording says it was entry by donation until Saturday (which is not free unless you're a cheapskate). Tomorrow it starts charging.

However I went there a few years ago and it was well worth going anyway for the amount they charge.

To celebrate, the Cultural Centre Precinct will hold a special re-opening celebration this weekend with two days of free family activities and programs.

      .

As part of the celebrations, the Gallery and presenting sponsor Santos will host a sausage sizzle on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 3pm. All funds raised will be donated to the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

    • We went yesterday which is how I knew about it - they said at the door it would be free again today.

The lady at the actual entry where you go in said there was no charge, if we wanted to donate we could, but that was up to us. We still did, but they did not say you had to - the donation box was once you passed the entry.

      • Updated post to reflect this new information.. Thanks its always best to be sure

I went there yesterday and think it should remain a donation system. It's definitely not worth $12. That said, half of it was closed so it will be interesting to see if they open the electrical science exhibits for the free entry tomorrow.

  • Sick going into the city today, should be fun if not too busy.
