Wanted: Budget fishing rod and reel combo eggbeater spinner $100

Hi,

I have moved to a city where there is some great fishing around. Has anyone got any bargains on maybe the 2 main rod and reels one would need; 12 foot surf rod and 7 foot allrounder? Looking at Daiwa, Ugly Stik and Shimano.

Looking at the Anaconda specials under $100 and BCF have a couple that look ok too.

Prefer to avoid gumtree or simililar at the moment.

    I know nothing about fishing but I bought a Jarvis Walker combo from kmart for around $50 I think and it seem to to do the job

    For value for money its hard to beat pflueger reels, Im sure there will be many suggestions and a lot of the time it comes down to a holden/ford, waeco/engel debate. I have found pfluegers to be bomb proof and really great value as you get a whole lot of reel for the price. They are not that well known but look them up online and you wont find too many bad words about them and a lot of people buying them to temporarily replace expensive reels to find that they are far better than the price would suggest. Look for a combo on ebay with a pflueger salt but I do understand if you just want to walk in and buy something off the rack. As for the rod I have found ugly stick pretty consistently good and durable but I dont really buy into the tech side of rods as IMHO its a load of @#$% for marketing (same with reels too but to a lesser extent as you do need mechanical reliability in the real world too).
