Buyers and Merchants Beware - Do Not Use Scoopon

If only I had gone through thread by thread nad read about Scoopon I would've never used them to start with. It's the first voucher I have purchased from Scoopon aka Scampon and what a big mistake I have made.

Here are just a few threads about Scampon:

*To book online, click on ‘Contact’ Tab and fill out your details in message. Please specify preferred date and time of treatment and your voucher number.

Well, let me correct Scoopon’s INCORRECT information they advertised which I have noticed as of TODAY Scoopon have ALTERED the T&C’s.

  1. You CAN’T call the 1300 number to make a booking, because their message bank is usually full or no one picks up.
  2. On their website there is NO BOOKING FORM, but a flimsy contact us form.
  3. *To book online, click on ‘Contact’ Tab and fill out your details in message. Please specify preferred date and time of treatment and your voucher number.
The merchant said she required the FULL ADDRESS to make a booking - which you only staed DATE, TIME and VOUCHER NUMBER.

And that is exactly what I had submitted to them last week.

I received reply saying “what is your full address?”

I replied and since then never heard back until I chased!

I didn’t send ONE, not TWO, but THREE emails chasing for an answer and got the reply “what is your address”

I submitted my address a total of 4 times.

In my 4th reply, I typically said I wanted to finalise this by COB today - is it wrong to ask for a timeframe when you have been given the run around for over a week??

I was asked to re-submit another email so the operator can have everything in ONE email. I did so but this time it was missing the voucher number - which she had in the first email already.

I called and left a message voicing my disstatisfaction and what did I get? A Crazy operator calling me twice without leaving messages when I was on another call and the 3rd call I got accused of not having common sense for not providing my full address in the intial contact us form. She said it was my fault for missing two of her calls today, I told her she could’ve left a voicemail she said “no excuses” >> This operator is nuts!

I tried explaining to this operator:

  1. Full address per SCOOPON’s instructions were NOT REQUIRED.
  2. On their contact us form it was NOT MANDATORY for address.
  3. I was making an enquiry of availability not asking for an immediate booking,

From this experience I have several issues:
1. Scoopon diliberately altering their website after receiving my first complaint to take out the phone 1300 instruction. - How lucky am I to have printed off your landing page on the 31st Jan 2011 and am able to send a copy to Fair Trading.
2. Scoopon, do you check the integrity of your merchants? I have since googled SWAT and Whirpool Forums has a thread about buying from Scoopon and telling people that booking in a voucher is at the mercy of SWAT?? What the??
3. I clearly did what was asked but your merchant couldn’t even be bothered reading emails carefully - how can I trust they will do a good job?

Scoopon HAS made mistakes:
1. Not giving consumers correct instructions by directing calls to 1300 number - if I were to know that it was online bookings only, I would’ve smelt a rat straight away and most likely would not have purchased this.
2. Both Scoopon and Merchant have FAILED to provide full instructions on how to book this in - this DOES INCLUDE making Address column mandatory on their site - if this is a MUST have for my enquiry to be processed not “You should have common sense”

The lesson learned:
1. Don’t buy from Scoopon
2. If you buy, make sure you print the landing page, t&c’s on the day you buy the deal to avoid them altering things when they know they are in trouble.
3. Google/Check the merchant and look for feedback before buying deals.

Finally, I have noticed SWAT Aggressively listing daily deals on various other sites such as Cudo and Our Deal >> the alarm bell is they are so inefficient to fulfill ONE Voucher, I wonder how many are in the same boat? and with their level of POOR Service… what if they go bust?

Stay Away from Scoopon and S.W.A.T. Pest Solutions

Since then the owner of SWAT has contacted me trying to beg me to come to my place and explained that he was overwhelmed by new customers from the deals etc etc… I was promised a refund.

To this date:
SWAT Called me again on FRIDAY and said he was trying to contact his sales rep to process a refund
Scoopon - no word from them except for that stupid email they sent everyone about Telstra - interesting enough I work for Telstra and checked about the phone problem Scoopon mentioned - and there was no such thing!!

So… if you are a merchant Scoopon will scam you into using their site to promote your business. They don't care if you can handle the load… because they are a scam. When things don't turn out right, they continue scamming you and leave the merchant on his own to handle the matter.

As a consumer - anything you buy on their site you have a high chance of experiencing problems and when things don't turn out (i.e. unable to make a booking) you are not entitled to a refund - even if Scampon are the idiots who have scamed you into the deal and later on changed the Terms and Conditions on their website.

STAY AWAY!

I have now had to take them to the ACCC and Fair Trading (and I know I am not the only one!)… all this for one mistake BUYING FROM SCAMPON!

      Scampon,
I am not posting on here so you cna provide support via a forumn it is because when people email [email protected] they DON'T GET A REPLY OR you get a stupid generic reply i.e:

      Thank you for your email.

We have recently had our Sales Executive follow up a number of emails we’ve received regarding SWAT Pest Solutions.

Unfortunately, due to an issue with the telephone lines with Telstra, the deal provider has not been receiving all calls through to their staff. This has caused a number of issues for the deal provider, and they have apologised for any inconvenience this may have caused to our Scoopon community.

We kindly advise that the issue has now been resolved with Telstra, and the friendly staff of SWAT Pest Solutions will be happy to assist you with your booking queries by calling the following number: 1300 276 070

Should you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us.

      Kind Regards,
      Team Scoopon

Funny enough the MERCHANT/Owner of SWAT Contacted me after reading this complaint and offered to come to my place on Sunday - but to be very honest I have lost confidence in them already. He was very apologetic and tried everything possible to retain me but I was simply over it. The Merchant promised that I will get a refund and he is chasing his Sales guy from Scoopon to fix it up.

What I found really interesting was the Merchant made NO MENTION about the TELSTRA problem Scoopon came up with but admitted that they were overwhelmed with the response and had a stressed operator whom he has spoken to.

If this merchant called earlier I may have considered using his services, but the issue is my mum already went and booked another pest control guy to come in on Monday and after all the drama I just want a refund and nothing else.

In summary, Scoopon clearly has an issue, I was especially disgusted at them altering T&C’s on their website and being absolutely no help in the situation.

I eamailed you FOUR TIMES in total and only got ONE generic reply which others in this forum for THE EXACT SAME REPLY… looks like your STUPID customer service is only capable of COPY AND PASTING replies and NOTHING ELSE!!

      First two tickets:

      Ticket ID: LYM-904715
      Subject: I want a refund
      Department: Scoopon redemption

      Ticket ID: ILO-971220
Department: Scoopon redemption(note: this one was replied by the STUPID generic message of yours BLAMING TELSTRA whom I work for and know that there were NO ISSUES with the phones!!!)

I subsequently replied your LAME REPLY directly - aka no ticket number

and send an email directly to [email protected].

And what are you going to say now? another generic message "oh I will get our support team to look at it and reply to you within 28 - 48 business hours?? so typical because you and your team are absolute SCAMMERS who just RIP PEOPLE OFF and DON'T give people what they pay for!!

Why do you even bother reply to messages and posting on here? look are your reputation Scampon it's a joke!!

GIVE ME MY REFUND I AM SICK OF YOUR SCAMS ONLY WANT A REFUND and I WILL CONTINUE POSTING THIS HORROR STORY ACROSS ALL FORUMS for as long as I need to until I get a refund and so that others will STOP USING YOUR SCAM SITE!

    • I have just RE SUBMITTED THE SAME psot the 5th time:

    Hi elbek,

Just checking in to see if you have received our email from the Support Team to resolve your query?
If not, please let us know so we can have the support team send it again from the secondary email system.

    Kind Regards,
    Team Scoopon.

    • I got a reply asking for my details AGAIN - which makes me suspect if you CS team actually reads their emails properly, surely things like what email you used and the name of the deal should be in my records??

None the less I have replied them with the details they are looking for - for over 24 hours I have not heard back, checked my credit card and do not see the refund promised there.

I re-submitted my reply via ur contact us form and details are:

      Ticket ID: OZD-421884
      Department: Scoopon redemption

PLEASE follow up as I just want to get this out of the way and never have to deal with your company or SWAT I have been scammed into all of this and sick and tired of lies and scams!

Sometimes, it may be easier to just pick up the phone.

Scoopon Rep, perhaps your customer service team could RING elbek?

Elbek, I know you're mad at scoopon, but ranting doesn't help.

If you want your money back, ring your credit card provider and explain what happened. Get them to make a chargeback.

  • Shawn.. the problem is that scoopon will NOT give any one their phone number. I wanted to pick up the phone and ring them, however they will not give anyone a phone number that a customer can contact them on. Just the customer support email, which i have had the pleaseure to deal with, and was a complete waste of time.. ie asking for more details which they allready have, blaming telstra for everything.. even though its clear that the company on question did receive the messages and emails, and even returned calls and emails to a selected few. The only way i was able to get any real action from scoopon is complaining about them on forums.. this on mainly, and also going to dept of fair trading.. otherwise i would stil be chasing them up.. speaking of which i need to check if the refund actually did come through as they said it would.

  • +1

Sounds like Scoopon is pretty ScrewedUp

  • I agree with Tsandu. You all might just think I am madly ranting on…. but what else can we do when they are a scam that don't reply emails and don't have a phone number? Finally got my refund and the lesson learned is to NEVER ever use Scoopon again! They shame the whole collective buying industry!!

    • +3

how many times can you write scam in one thread? Your just repreating the same thing over and over. I also don't see any issue in giving your address away to the company, since the mercahnt would require it to see when an appointment could be made, i.e. travelling times between appointments. Scoopon might have bad customer service, but they aren't a scam… stop ranting…

      • +1

I didn't give it to them because it wasn't mandatory… and reading from others experience on FB and here even if ppl gave them the addy a booking was never made and it resulted to be solved via Fair Trading.

They are a scam as they tricked a lot of people to buy this deal and a lot of people did not get the deal!!

Clearly you are not the one who has been scammed and can't careless.. if you can't handle the people complaining and warning other potential victims, then don't read it.

Not going to post in this forum… my only aim was to get my money back and after using this forum and dept of fair trading I have got what I wanted.

        • **** Not going to post in this forum… allow me to re word for you.. here goes honey >>

my only aim was to get my money back, try to screw these people over ( like anyone who did not kiss my behind even when they did it was not good enough) because they would not deliver exactly what I wanted and when I wanted it, i mean why should i have to wait in a cue like everyone else and why should I have to ring several times before getting in touch with who I need to speak to, even if they ARE tending to other duties, calls or customers.. and seriously filling out a form in completion is just too much.. Oh is that a hair out of place… * FIXES HAIR * there, better now !!!

THE WORLD DOES NOT REVOLVE AROUND YOU xoxo gossip girl ;)

        • scam,

scoopon can somewhat be said to be doing a scam.. when they sell 5000 vouchers, to a company that normally does a handfull of clients a day.. and then the vouchers expire in 6 months.. its obvious thay will not be able to complete all the customers with voucers in 6 months.. so they are overselling, knowing they can not deliver, and as many people recieved, once the voucher expires thats it.. they keep the money and you get no service.

on the other hand.. some in order to complete the large number of customers with vooucers, get half the service.. even though the voucher should provide the same service as a customer without the voucher. That way they can do twice as many people in the same time.. but again.. the customer gets ripped of, as they didnt get what they paid for..

    • I bought an offer from ouffer yesterday, for a massage++ in North Melbourne. 68 vouchers were sold. I think for me personally now, if there is a significant number of vouchers / offers / coupons being sold, I don't consider taking up the offer, after reading about so many fulfilment issues. That way, I don't sink my money into what could be a lemon deal and I don't use up whatever scarce resource the merchant has trying to fulfil the terms of the offer. Think WIN-WIN. :)

  • elbek, people like you frustrate me. You are just impatient and haven't let people have a chance to rectify things. I just looked at Scoopon, they sold 372 deals. Of course they are going to be inundated with phone calls and emails, it would naturally take time. Listening to 10 voice messages and replying to them all takes enough time let alone 372. The only thing Scoopon has done is possibly oversold for a business that cannot handle those kind of numbers but then again, for those prices I think you should just be a little more patient.
