    Windows 8???

      Software from the future!

    • +1

That confused me too when I read the title…

      It should be:
Paragon HFS+ for Windows version 8 Special Edition

ie: 8th version of this program (I'm assuming…)

      • It should be:
Paragon HFS+ for Windows version 8 Special Edition

No then that would be saying that the software Paragon HFS+ is designed to be run on windows version 8.

  • Thanks … :-) Just what I needed. Hard to find free … +++

  • After reading the product features I still don't understand what it's used for.

    • Paragon HFS+ for Windows is the only solution that provides full read-write access to HFS+/HFSX partitions on any type of disks (APM, GPT, MBR) under most of Windows versions!

So, bascially you can read a Mac-formatted hard drive on a windows computer. For example in a USB docking station, or perhaps the Mac died and you want the files off it's HDD

      • Actually, MacDrive does the same thing; HFS drive support in windows. MacDrive sucks though, I find it always crashes on me.

    • you can mount hfs partitions in windows

      • So does this mean the software is redundant?

        • prettymuch. I would say less than 0.1% of computer users would actually have a use for this.

        • This software/driver lets you do this. I think you misinterpreted what he said as windows can do it without this software.

      • What about the one for installing on a Mac. Is that redundant too?

        • No, you misinterpreted what he said. He was saying the point of this software is you can mount HFS in windows or NTFS in OSX not that they can do it without the software.

    • It lets you read disks formatted for MacOS..
Note that this could be handy for xbox360 owners. The 360 reads HFS+ but not NTFS, so if you want to connect a large hard drive and use large 4gb+ files, you HAVE to use HFS+.

Otherwise, this is probably really only useful if you are running MacOS elsewhere in the house and have external drives formatted to HFS+

    • You can install this on a MacBook Pro that has Bootcamp.
This makes it possible to read your Mac partitions when you're in Windows OS.

Wow, just registered for it… a company who keeps the "email me" boxes unticked by default. Amazing.

Oh I see what you have done. Would you have the msi-a-jig for the 64bit one?

  • +1

Also the download size of the file is 4.4MB so it's not like you'll be taking a lot of your time to do this.

  • I know its not for this software but this is a oddly worded sorry message. http://www.paragon-software.com/registration/

  • I find it very hard to trust a download when the screenshot is of a popup spam window.

  • is this better than macdrive?

  • These are the terms:

You have to install it before the Giveaway offer for the software is over.

    Terms and conditions

Please note that the software you download and install during
the Giveaway period comes with the following important limitations:
    1) No free technical support
    2) No free upgrades to future versions
    3) Strictly non-commercial usage

    • for a free software, all fine by me

    • Ah crap, didn't realise had to install it straight away, hopefully can still do it this afternoon.

    • I think they just mean get the serial (which is theoretically part of the install if we didn't get it direct linked). I doubt there is actually any dial home checking going on in the installer. I got the serials even though I don't plan on installing it straight away.

      • I doubt there is actually any dial home checking going on in the installer

When i have used GOTD stuff the installer has dialled home during the install

  • Just installed this on Windows 7 and Mac.
Installation went fine except you'll need to uninstall Mac Drive if you want to install this.
The software won't let you install both.

    • Well they are conflicting drivers. It would probably cause all sorts of issues if you tried to have both installed at the same time.

  • Thanks.. downloaded and registered for the keys.. I've been wanting to get this for some time and now its free :)

  • do you really have to install it within the time given?

    • I assume they just mean grab the serials before then. I doubt there is any dial home checking in the installer.

    • If you don't want to use the GOTD links and download/install now… then…

Register for the serial numbers using the links above. Then in future if you ever want to install search for the following files:

The MD5 for the HFS4WIN_x32.msi file (4611584 bytes) is:
      D7A01DE127B72A60985643497886DE34

The MD5 for the Paragon NTFS for Mac OS X.dmg file (5916005 bytes) is:
      C608C17AFDD575CD60906E6D26A2C08F

Hopefully the hotfile links will still be ok.

      • I installed using the msi installer while not connected to the net without a hitch, so I don't think there is any dial-home-checking going on.

    • Thanks guys, I guess i'll just save a copy of the files then.

  • Cheers, this will come in handy when trying to read my NTFS ext harddisk on my macbook..

  • Yes! Can't believe it's free now!
