[VIC] Supreme+ 98 Fuel 132.9c Per Litre @ 7-Eleven, Waverley Gardens

2011

Was just checking my 7- ElEVEN app, and Waverley Gardens store showed a price of 132.9 cents per litre for SUPREME +98, its currently around 155.9 at other places. If you use 98 premium make sure you lock this in, its pretty much the same price as regular unleaded

    Great find OP

      We are OZbargainers not OZbeggars

        • +5

I’m guessing you are connecting 98 with premium or luxury European cars.
Firstly some basic cars like VW Golf require 95 or 98.
Secondly luxury European cars have strong depreciation. Therefore a bargain used.
Thirdly, many on here have big bucks.

        • +4

          Bargain is relative.

You can buy an AMG and get a bargain - and you can buy a second hand Hyndai Excel and still get ripped off.

        • My somewhat bargainy VW requires 98.

        • +8

          What a douchebag.

        • @Strand0410: my 18 year old bmw runs best on 98, but will adjust timing down to 95 octane ….the marvels of EFI and variable cam timing.

        • -3

          @ILikeBargenz:

          Which AMGs are bargains?

        • -3

          @JVs tattered socks:

Right, I'm sure there are plenty of people on here worth 5-10 million who are looking to save $10 or $15 on a bargain.

        • -6

          @garage sale:

No cars from 18 years ago required 98, because the fuel wasn't available in Australia at the time.

        • @MrZ: an amg a 200 lol

        • @MrZ: wrong!! My 18 yr old skyline requires 98. People don't just own cars that were sold in Australia. Ever heard of a thing called "import"?!

    • +3

      Car?

My plane takes 100LL and there's never any deals on that :(

    • There are many big earners on here.

But to be fair recommendation threads seem to be dominated by Camrys and Magnas.

      • -5

Big earners, rolf. Ask a top barrister or plastic surgeon if they've ever heard of Ozbargain…

How do you define a big earner anyway, 500k+ a year?

        • +2

You're the one that seems to be obsessed with it. You also seem to know everyone's salary. Why don't you tell everyone what you consider a big earner? Everyone is really interested. Promise.

        • -1

          @b2dz:

I'm not obsessed, I just don't think there are big earners on here. And I did already hint at a figure in my last post. I'll say anything over 400k a year (or top 1% or so) would be a big earner in my books. Not that a person's income tells you anything about how wealthy they are.

        • +2

@MrZ: Obviously you're not a big earner hence the salty comments.

        • +5

@MrZ: You don’t need 400k per year to afford a car that needs RON 98.

    • +1

Toyota 86 which is a bargain in every sense requires 98

      • I'll give you that one.

  • -3

Great price - unfortunate that you can only lock in the cheapest fuel that is within your 'radius' of 7-11 fuel stores.

    • +6

There are workarounds to that see comments here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/399327

      • +3

Lol I was gonna say dw he's new here, and I clicked the profile thinking it said joined in 2018 initially but it was actually 2008!!

      • Hi

What about IPhone /IOS? Comments in above thread refer to Android-APK

        • The locked rate is tied to an account, not a phone. So you can lock in the rate on one phone and then sign into the same account on another… like an iphone.

        • They also mostly suggest to do it using Nox Android emulator on your PC which is the way to go for iPhone users

      • Thanks - I never new about this work around.

    • +6

U must be new to OzBargain, welcome to join our favorite fuel station

      • New to Ozbargain - no. New to the Fuel app - yes :)

    • Not unfortunate for those of us who live near the area.

    • +10

That's not a radius, this is a radius!

    • +3

Too bad my radius is the size of the earth's radius.

      • So limiting. I believe Mr Musk is using this workaround for his space-x refueling

    • ROOKIE

    • haha - so it looks like I am new to this fuel app thing and its work around. Thanks for the heads up.

  • Thanks OP!

  • +3

Cheer op, I’m driving to waverley gardens now @:@

  • +1

    Aw you're kidding. I paid 133.9 today.

    • -2

      Pity it wasn't 133.7

  • +7

Can everyone try and use code names when titling these deals. Last thing we need are these guys catching us out and ruining the savings.

    • +1

But the whole point of locking in fuel prices is to notice a good price and reserve it.

    • +6

      Like what? 007-11?

A super secret code that only "us" and the thousands of other ozbargainers can understand.

It's a bit late. 7-11 would be aware, a quick google leads them to OzBargain.

    • Servo staff are onto it too

      • Still on? I am 1 store out. 7-10 Mins drive should get me in range

      • I once filled up and locked in from the carpark (legit lock using closest stations) and the attendant smirked and said 'oh you can get a better price than that. Just make sure you lock in when you're 'driving around'😜' lmao

        • +1

I drove up to Brandon Park Shopping Center and locked from the 711 there and filled up. Saved $18 between 2 cars with 2 locks on 2 phones for next week. Thanks OP.

Damn getting an error in the app - "We are unable to accept card transactions for your account"

    • me too, crazy

For those with credit cards / debit cards that are experiencing issues adding new cards. Although it's a little more effort, you can purchase 7-Eleven Gift Cards (no fee) in-store and top-up your Fuel App balance using the Gift Card.

Solved my Credit/Debit card issues entirely

    • I previously had the same issue and it was due to me not having my mobile number listed on my account. Maybe check that.

  • +4

Thanks op! I drove from Brisbane to Waverley gardens and back just for this ;)

    • +6

I drove from Sydney. Only took like 20 seconds!

    • +3

I just flew there, locked in price, flew back

An additional hack. You do not need to use the balance on your account, keep it there and use it only to lock in prices. Pay using cash or card at the counter.

  • nice I live 5 mins from there!

  • Still working.

  • Still working. Thanks OP.

  • Thx still working 5.00 am

  • Damn hypebeasts

  • +1

So I guess we can post these as deals since these U98 drops happen regularly. Interesting

    • When it's a significant amount, hell yeah. In this case it was the same price as E10 so it's a good 20c or so discount even in the local area, but for those of us in Sydney (where E10 has gone up to $1.55 and 98 to $1.75 near me at least) it's an even better bargain.

  • Just went there now. Still $132.90.

  • Still working 7.25am 🕢

  • Thanks for the heads up!
    Locked @ 7:27am

  • $1.82 in the NT :(

    91 is $1.55

    • +4

Is that for a single bottle or by the case?

      • Single, luckily basics card covers 98, premium is the way to go

  • Depending on circumstances, BPMe deal may be better even @ $1.59 / L. But great deal nonetheless!

    • For $40 spend it will be $1.19 / L with BPMe deal so yes definitely better.

    • I always get “hmm, you don’t seem to be near a station “ though it is just a 500 m away

      • I'd pick it requires to be less than 500m away (also depending on GPS fix). Normally it pops up more like when I'm 200m away.

  • Took ages to add my Credit card and now I can't even put credit on just keep getting Lima error

  • Perfect timing, just about ready to fill up. Locked in 😁 thanks!!!

  • Need some help here, currently driving a hire car (car accident) will I get more milage on the U98 compared with U91. The difference between a full tank would be $5.

    Thanks

    • doubtful, its a hire car
run the cheapest nastiest fuel you can ;)

Saved ~$13.5 the other day. Locked in at 7/11 Granville a couple of days prior at 146.9 and filled up at 176.9 … went home and popped a sparkling

    • My best is $26 saving - not bad!

      • Got about $30 when they had the $1 E10 about 3 weeks ago. The guy serving me was like "that's f*kn cheep!"

  • Hey guys,
I usually fill my tank to full at the petrol station and I don’t necessarily know how much fuel i’ll need in advance.

With fuel lock, what happens if you lock in say, $40 and you need less or more fuel? Do you forfeit any remaining credit if you don’t use the full $40 or can you pay extra (at the pump price) if you need more fuel?

    Thanks

    • -2

Edit: Sorry I misread it. You forfeit the extra litres of fuel you locked in. And you pay the pump price if you go over.

    • +1

you lock in a price for 'x' litres. You either use
      - less than 'x', so you are charged for how ever many litres you buy, at the price you locked in
      - exactly 'x', so you are charged for 'x' litres at the price you locked in
      - more than 'x', so you are charged for 'x' litres at the price you locked in, and the remaining at the current price

despite needing to have credit in your account to cover the locked number of litres, you dont actually pay for the fuel until you buy it and then you can either use the credit or pay via normal means.

  • +2

    Shows 151.0 for me now

  • -4

Have few cars, making new account, could not add any credit cards, took 5' (1.5 km) to go real 7/11 store to get few gift cards. Went to VIC ~1000km away just 20". Oh well Happy farther's day !!!

  • How much fuel does a service station hold (for 7-11s)?

    • tanks are usually around 40,000 - 50,000 liters.

      Does vary.

      • More than enough for us OzBargainers who apparently can't afford cars that need 98

        • +1

OMG, you are spot on :)

  • Anyone able to confirm if the price 132.9 for U98 still stands?

    • Expired.

      • Thanks. Yeah, apparently it’s now 151
