A good price but it is a very purpose specific lens.

    I think you mean M4/3 not m34

    • darn it….not posting bargains anymore from my phone after waking up!

For those after a budget mft telephoto, this is pretty much it! It's a fairly capable lens, and for sub $400 a good buy. Don't expect the sharpest images on the planet, but they're still very good. The image stabilisation is also very solid.

The only thing I would say is this isn't compatible with the "dual is" in-body image stabilisation on the gx85 etc. The lens will work fine, but you'll either use the lens or body is, not both together.

    • And if you have an early-ish Olympus camera body, don't have OIS and IBIS turned on at the same time.

      • Can you run both with the newer Olympus bodies?

        • I don't believe so. The only way to get both the dual IS (body and lens together) is to use the newer hardware from the same vendor.

          Eg. Gx85 and the 100-300mkII

        • @incipient: Yeah that was my understanding.. Was just confused why @Luckypenguin mentioned it being for early-ish bodies only.

  • Slightly off-topic. Anyone could recommend a Lens for A6000. I have got the 18-55 but thinking of adding a 18-105 or so…

A newbie into photography and shall shoot images, mostly in the nature & natural lighting.

Sony lens (18-105 or 18-135) comes to $999 which is more than what I paid for the camera + 18-55 :-(

    • No experience with the sony line-up but I have a panasonic camera and my lenses are a mixed bunch of different brands.
Maybe Sigma or others have a lens that suits you for a better price….check out bhphoto (especially the reviews)
Otherwise maybe a prime lens that sits somewhere in the middle (85mm)?

like I said….not really experienced with Sony

might want to mention it's f/4-5.6

  • Had this been mk2 I may have parted with more money.

    • You and me both! Unfortunately they're still towards 1k =(

  • What's the advantage of MK2? Power OIS?
