Xiaomi Pocophone F1 6GB/64GB Black Snapdragon 845 $468.00 Delivered @ eGlobal Central (HK)

190
WELCOME

Things to note before making purchase:

  • Paypal Accepted.
  • Grey Import (all of these phones are).
  • Not the most trusted retailer on ozbargain.
  • Best price I have found online for a brand new device delivered.
  • Keep in mind eGlobals webpages are slow but they do eventually load.
  • Don't forget to use coupon code 'welcome' for the extra $6 off.

So in the style of a true ozbargainer.
I am willing to take a bit of a risk with this company for the the highest reward, which is by far the best price I have found this cheap flagship delivered online. $44.95 cheaper than kogan.
Totally understand if you want to buy from a more reputable retailer but I just wanted to share this great price with other in case they are interested.
Here is their ebay feedback page which I think is acceptable enough to warrant a purchase.

Cheers !

People are making a big fuss about this - but I think really it'd impact a small audience.
You can still chromecast from it, and that won't be an issue. And it doesn't impact YouTube.

On the flip side, I hope that it does drive the price down… so that I can pick up a cheap one.

      • Thing is, with so many alternatives, why compromise?

        • +3

I don’t see any alternatives to this phone at this price? Op6 is closest competition and it’s considerably more expensive. Ignoring the fact that the issue will be resolved soon.

          @Ronnnie:
Completely agree. Show me a phone with same specs for 460 aud.

    • +2

they are literally in the process of fixing this along with other issues which have already been marked fixed.
This is not being ignored by xiaomi.

People watch netflix on a tiny phone screen?

And want full HD on a tiny phone screen?

      Odd….

    No Gerry tax?

I don't know why people call this a flagship phone. No B28, no OLED screen, no widevine L1 certificate = no Netflix HD and some other HD content. It's not the best phone the company sells spec or feature wise. Flagship of the Pocophone brand maybe.

    • +3

I think you are only highlighting what you see as negatives the main components of a flagship phone are:

      *Screen
      *Camera
      *Storage
      *CPU
      *RAM
      *Battery
      *Connectivity

This phone is up there with phones three times its price in nearly all points above,
sure it has cut some corners but its trying to be the cheapest snapdragon 845 phone out there I'm sure that would be no mean feat.

Literally no one calls this a flagship phone, and if they do you should take their review with a grain of salt. This is still a budget phone at the end of the day with specs that are comparable to real flagship phones, but lack major features such as NFC, a good camera, high end build quality, OLED panel etc.

      • I think this is a matter of perspective and I deliberately used the words 'cheap flagship' to imply this.

      • -6

That's because we're not its original intended market. Poco and Xiaomi teamed up to create a cheaper alternative to the OnePlus 6 which is dominating the market in India while maintaining similar level specs at a fraction of the price. To keep costs down they had to cut out features found in other flagships like NFC.

Anyone who thinks that this is a 'flagship killer' is wrong.

        • +1

I still think you are missing the point noone said this was a flagship killer I said cheap flagship.

The definition of a flagship in terms of a device is the following :

the best or most important thing owned or produced by a particular organisation

This is exactly what this device is for pocophone

@sludo: I replied to currentfad not you. What I said about why it was made is correct though and it's in no way a flagship as that's what the Xiaomi Mi series is for. In general a lot of people are seeing it as a flagship/flagship killer and that's wrong.

      • +3

No Xiaomi phone has OLED. So I guess that means Xiaomi does not have a flagship?

  • Anyone used eglobalcentralau? Are they any good?

  • When is the 256 gb one getting released

This phone is great, except for the notch, lack of band 28 and NFC.

Having a SD 845 is basically guaranteeing that this phone will last for 3 years at least, plus this is catered for india so there's gonna be a lot of development for this phone (and you'll be able to flash consistently maintained custom ROMS like Pixel, AOSPExtended and LOS). If the SD 625 can last for two years then i have no doubt that the SD 845 will be even better in terms of durability.

I hope for their next phone they at least consider adding NFC (and hope they don't remove the jack, it's becoming a huge trend now).

    • And get rid of the notch. If we're looking at phones with as much screen as possible, I personally think the Mi MIX has by far the best design.

  • +1

How much more would it have cost them to add NFC and Band 28? Maybe $10? They would have sold a shitload more if it had these features. Personally would never buy a phone without them.

    • +1

B28 is really only a snobby Aussie thing (I know, shoot me), but NFC now, that would've been a good move.

      • If you've used a phone with and without B28 you wouldn't be saying that. There is a big difference in signal quality, and not just in rural areas, but in built up areas as well.

        • Agreed. I frequently visit rural parts of Australia where the only 4G they have is B28.

Even if Poco had decided to release it in Aus there would be no guarantee of B28. They've already released in other countries that use it and they'd have to pay Qualcomm more money for additional bands.

        • Yep just bought a mi a2 lite for my wife. B28 is a bigger issue than nfc. Still great phone for the money. But still signal strength is a very overlooked feature of a phone.

      • And if you're on Vodafone (i.e. Kogan) there's no difference anyway!

  • Does this include GST?

    • This is all I could find on their website that was relevant:

      1. CUSTOMS & GST ARRANGEMENT
17.1 To simplify the process of buying internationally, eGlobal Central AU chooses to handle the process of custom clearance for customers in AU and New Zealand. By purchasing products through eglobal central AU, you authorize eGlobal Central AU to make arrangements for clearance of customs on your behalf for the products in your order. So based on this I assume if you experience any extra GST it will be covered by eGlobal

  • Order shipped with Dhl left HK today pretty happy with eglobal so far.

        still going well so far

  • Decent price without too much markup. I bought mine when I was travelling in Singapore for $501 net of GST for the 6/128gb model. Happy with it! Not sure why the firmware updates don't come through yet though.

  • People here need to realise China don't use NFC… They main way to pay is alipay and wechat pay which is using qr codes…
