2 Year Dental Plan from $108 Single, $121.20 Couple, $135.20 Family @ Smile

60
LAUNCH20

Seems to be a fairly contentious service, with people disputing its overall value, however, Smile seem to be running a discount on their 2 year plan knocking between $25-30 off it depending on your status.

In addition, the long running code of LAUNCH20 (marked as expired in this deal - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/383956) seems to stack with it to give the following prices:

$108 for a single
$121.20 for a couple
$135.20 for a family (tried with only one child so it might increase with more dependents)

Alternatively you can use the referral links to get the same discount, but given there's only 3 listed, it'll probably look suspicious if they all get a high number of referrals in the next couple of days :)

N.B. I appreciate it's not as good as the previous 2 year for the price of 1 offer, but I tested all those codes and they seem to have expired.

OP does as good a job as Smile themselves on their homepage, in explaining what the hell 'Smile' is.

For those wondering, it's dental insurance.

    • It's not even insurance, it's a promise of a discount over regular fees if you use someone within their network. So if your dentist is already cheaper by 15% or more then you'll save zilch.

  • I remember last time this came up, people explained that this wasn't worth it.

Thanks OP, perfect timing as my daughter needs braces but my work decided to terminate our employee dental plan scheme.

I've had a root canal in Thailand and minor dental work in Malaysia in the last 10 years and every dentist has been much better and less than 1/4 the price of Australia.

Buy flights when AirAsia or Jetstar is on sale, have the dental work done there and you'll pay the same for the dental work and a week in heaven as you would for an uninterested dentist in Australia trying to rip you off so he can afford repayments on his Maserati and high maintenance wife.

    • Much better idea, smiles should make organising that their new strategy.

I've never been overseas for dental work but the rest of what you said certainly rings true.

  • Hmmm….I need a crown soon at around $1600. My dentist is pretty much right on average with costs. Wondering how much more cheaply I could get it done even if I use this once….
