Scoopon - Overcharging Credit Card

Hello,

I have emailed Scoopons customer service desk twice now, in two weeks without response. They charged my credit card for 6 items, when i only bought 5 leaving me $69.00 out of pocket.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to contact Scoopon - they are pretty lousy at responding to their complaints - especially given their "no phone calls" policy.

All i want is a refund for the $69 owing to me. No Big Deal and should not take long to organise.

  • Scoopon's refund process is quite an enduring one. Usually wait up to 2-3 weeks before you see the fund.
    I guess you've tried contacting them through email and now OzB… probably just wait for a scoopon rep to reply you with the standard reply.

    "blah blah blah email our friendly support team via [email protected] and they will get back to you asap…blah blah blah"

    Usually if you post something here and gave them the replied email reference, they tend to take priority for OzB complainers =)

      Our Support Team does not take preference over any posts that appear on OzBargain. Our email system works on an oldest to newest system, so we reply in turn as quickly as possible.

      We endeavour to reply to all email queries received in to our inbox within 48 hours, so we apologise if there is a delay while we investigate your query.

    I have emailed that email address twice now - with full details. But i have not heard back from them at all and i am not even an automated response - which I expected I would get (however - given there is an apostrophe in my email address i am thinking [hoping] now that their email servers have had trouble with this).

    it would be good to speak to one of their reps about this. It is quite a simple complaint I have and should be easily resolvable.

    Apparently some say its now an automated message only.

      I'm not sure who that phone number is for, but it is not for our Support Team - all of our support is conducted by email for conversation tracking purposes.

  • I dont think that number correct - its an automated message with a British lady speaking - "thank you for calling Shop Close Outs…." [ i think thats what she says)

    • …. and now the message says "Catch of the Day". Both names belong to the owners of Scoopon, brothers Gabriel and Hezi Leibovich.

      As a guy at Whirlpool said about Tiger Airways, another company that tries to make a virtue out of not taking phone calls: "When they don't speak to you, they are saving (other) customers money"(!)

      If Scoopon doesn't answer Ozbargainers queries satisfactorily, they might like to avise Groupon's lawyers, Clayton Utz. They are suing Scoopon for registering Groupon.com.au in Australia; they might like to add damaging their marketplace further to their list of allegations!

    Scoopon seem to be getting absolutely caned these days with complaints. Every day there seems to be a new thread with people getting ripped.

    • Exactly - every time I view this forum, it is full of Scoopon complaints. I used to buy their vouchers but now I am too scared to as I have no confidence in their customer service in the event something goes wrong.

  • I know someone who bought one scoopon but two extra transactions went through and she opened a dispute through her bank saying purchase charged more than once. The transactions were reversed within a couple of weeks I think so do that if you don't hear from scoopon.
