490
PHOME20

Panasonic's 55inch OLED tv is on sale at Appliance Central's ebay store, combined with the Phome20 coupon code. Best price that I've seen so far.

The LG OLED55C8PTA is currently on sale for $2384 delivered if you would prefer this tv (although it says this weekend only). LG OLED55C8PTA link

The LG is cheaper at Bing Lee if you live in NSW, otherwise this looks like its the best you can get. Better than videopro with free delivery (at least to South Australia).

Thanks nocure for the 20% off code.

As dalcoud has said in the comments, the Panasonic tv may be eligible for a $150 Betta gift card as this Appliance Central is through Betta Villawood. The TV appears on the gift card application page so try your luck!

    Got one.
Also, @hippyhippy on the 'PHOME20' deal was saying this may be eligible for a $150 Betta gift card as this Appliance Central is through Betta Villawood.
The TV does appear on the gift card application page (https://www.betta.com.au/score-a-betta-giftcard) so it very well could be true.

    • Thanks dalcoud! I'll update the post to include this.

    • How exactly does it work? The link does state that it may not be eligible if purchase online, and the receipt upload droplist doesn't have "appliance online".

      • Oh I kidda get it, so just upload your receipt as "Betta Villawood" purchase to try our luck, however the link does state that "it may not be eligible if purchase online"

  • Man I thought video pro last week was good.

Around this time last year, the C7 series was cheaper than this. C8 series doesn't drop as fast it seems, despite having more OLED competition.

    • They increased the price by $270.their website is still $2420

    • Strange. I thought their yields were improving. I suppose when you're the only supplier of OLED panels you can control prices.

      • Probably need to factor in the exchange rate. Our dollar has dropped, meaning imports are more expensive.

        • True, but the panasonics don't seem any more expensive.

  • I've read the manual and searched online, is 'mirroring' from you android phone the same as casting? Can I just hit the cast icon on youtube on my phone with the Panasonic TH-55FZ950U?

    • "Can I just hit the cast icon on youtube on my phone with the Panasonic TH-55FZ950U"

      yep

Appliance central updated the price of the LG C8 to $2396 after discount. I've updated the price in the post.

  • Thanks OP, I pulled the trigger on the Panasonic. I've applied for the $150 gift card too, we'll see what happens. Status update in 2-3 weeks and processing will take up to 8 weeks(!)

Status update in 2-3 weeks, is that for the TV or for the gift card?

      • That's for the gift card. TV will be delivered between Monday and Thursday next week.

i bought it this morning apparently it is being delivered right now to my place… i got a call from them at lunch time.

        • @hippyhippy: Great - looks like footy finals at your place then. I'll bring the popcorn.

  • Love my C8. Welcome to the family everyone! <3

  • Looks like they've increased the postage cost from free to $90. Not so good anymore.

    • Still showing free delivery for me (SA), think it may be different for other states. I checked WA (6000) and it was $90.

OLED coming down fast, great news.

    The trend is your friend.

  • Highly recommended the LG C8. The image quality is very impressive.

  • Is it just me or do the manufacturers no longer provide the refresh rate for TV's anymore? Looking for 200HZ panels.

  • Which T.V would people recommend for mainly gaming purposes?

    • +2

Both these TVs sit at about 20ms for response time, which is excellent for gaming.
The only different, apart from price, it the LG has Dolby Vision and the Panasonic has HDR10+ (I believe this is true as the Samsung website specs reports it, although many sites don't mention it).
Dolby Vision and HDR10+ are competing dynamic HDR standards and one is not preferred over the other at the moment although Samsung is going with HDR10+ and they often have a big say on these things.
You won't go wrong with either, so in my opinion go for the cheaper one.

      • Thanks dal I went and got the Panasonic thanks to your advice and the extra money I saved can go towards a soundbar. Thanks too OP.

  • I'd love to know if this gets the $150 cash back because if it does I'm in

    • Not a cash back.. Its betta gift card

    Thanks OP.

I just bought the Panasonic :)

I also uploaded the receipt to try get the gift card :)

My first OLED. …. I'm very excited.

    Cheers

Enjoy! good luck on the gift card. Chuck us an upvote?

      • No worries.

I forgot to include that I also got $27 CashBack Rewards :)

        Cheers

  • Their offer says 'this week only'. Am I to interpret that as ending on Sunday?

    • I'd assume so, but it seems the price hasn't changed yet

  • Just got the TV, went for the 65" Panasonic. WOW! Blown away by the quality! Uploaded the Betta invoice for the $250 cashback too. Fingers crossed.

  • Does the 55" come with the Technics soundbar ?

    • +1

In Australia, the FZ1000 model not the FZ950 model comes with the soundbar. It's a bit confusing with the models in other regions being the FZ800 and FZ950, with the FZ950 being the one with the soundbar.
In essence, the two models in Australia are:
      * FZ 950
      * FZ 1000 (comes with soundbar)
      Hope this clears things up

  • So I got my Panasonic 55" today :) I'm so happy with the picture and sound quality. No soundbar though but I have surround theater so doesn't really matter.

Perhaps one day I will upgrade to ATMOS if I can understand what all the hype is about :)

Meanwhile, I am now wondering what 4k content I can watch. I have an older ATV3 which I think cannot do 4k. So I guess I should get an ATV4. Any suggestions or opinions on this? I only use it to stream movies from my PC and to watch some Netflix and Amazon Prime now and then.

How can I get the most out of my new OLED?

    Cheers

    Pookie

    • Amazon Prime, Netflix as you are probably already aware have plenty of 4k content you can stream. I've bought an Xbox One S, so I can play 4k blurays. YouTube obviously has a fair bit. Certainly recommend searching for some 4k HDR videos on there.

      • I was thinking of updating my old ATV3 box. But the ATV 4K is expensive :(

I just received an email telling me I've been approved for the $150 gift card. I purchased the TH-55FZ950U on Sep 20 and filled in the form the same day. Not a bad little bonus!

    • Congrats! great to hear it worked out

      • I haven't got mine yet :( maybe in a coupla days…but that is excellent news that they honoured them…

    • Same here. $250 approved! 😃

just received my approval too … same as McCkubbins… good result for us!

  • Has anyone looked into wall mounts for these units?
