190

Cheaper than the last deal. The Gamesman is currently selling this for $34.95.

The controller is designed to be as versatile as possible with each of your modern devices. Easily pair your controller as an X-input or D-input device via bluetooth. And you can even use it as a wired USB controller with the included USB cable. With regular firmware updates and new system compatibility like the Nintendo Switch.

Trust me on this you want to get the 8Bitdo SF30 Pro instead for less than $20 extra (if you go on eBay and use the -5% off code). The 8Bitdo SF30 Pro is also Switch compatible, has dual analog sticks, has 2 extra shoulder buttons, has motion and rumble.

Also yes the D-pad is amazing and the buttons otherwise feel like a real SNES controller.

Seconded. I use mine as my primary Switch controller these days.
It's also got the extra home and screenshot buttons on it too.

      • Is there any issues with the controller concerning input lag/charging/firmware updates? Those were the only areas of speculation from what I quickly read (besides some lack of features)

        • +2

I haven't noticed any input or charging issues, speaking of which it seems to hold charge for an incredibly long time also (I don't know the exact length, I haven't had it run dry on me yet and only give it a bit of a charge every week or so)
They seem to be good about updating the firmware too - I originally got my pad a while back and had it paired with a receiver to use with my Snes mini classic, I remember there were some binding issues with things not working exactly as intended when playing on a modded system. It sort of sounded like a long shot but a bunch of us sent in support/request emails asking for a fix to this and the next firmware patch to come out actually did fix this up to a perfectly working state.

If I do have one critique it's that the rumble feature isn't exactly great. Compared to any other pad like the dualshock for instance it feels kind of bad and sounds like it's full of bees when it does trigger, I've had to turn the feature off in certain games that make liberal use of rumble.

        • @Stoibs: Thanks for the mini-review! One more question though, have you had any issues with multiplayer games on the switch? Apparently, some have had issues with other controllers paired. I love to get this as a Pro controller substitute and for split-screen. Thanks again mate, I'm a click away from buying :)

          @Justcuz: Sorry, can't comment.
I'm one of those weird people who have a switch but no-one to actually play multiplayer with. I stick to singleplayer platformers/Rpg's only =(

      Does this look legit?

    • couldn't find the controller on the ebgames store. https://www.ebay.com.au/str/ebgamesaustralia

I'm more interested in getting a couple of 8bitdo's controller mod kits to make my existing controllers wireless.

  • +1

I've got the n30 pro which i use as my primary control because my left joycon is broken.

I believe this is also 40% off at ebgames.

    • Correct but the Gamesman was cheaper.

I use the SF30 Pro controllers for my Retropie setup. They are great quality and work perfectly. Worth the extra $s.

  • I might buy this for the nes games on switch. Have a pro controller and that dpad is complete garbage. How is the dpad on this one?

Note! These controllers are very small

    • +1

No they aren’t. They’re standard SNES controller size. They have a “Zero” line that are tiny but these ones are larger.

The NES30 Pro is on sale too for $41.37. Dual analog sticks with click (L3, R3), four shoulder buttons (L1, L2 etc). Managed to get a couple for $36 back in May from EB.

      • Nice.

        • Hence why only one controller posted!

      • $7.95 postage though.

      • Thx chibot, ordered 2.

I already have this and SFC version. Great little controllers.

    • Same here. Purchased the 8BitDo NES30 Pro and FC30 Pro controllers back when they were on sale at EBGames for $36. I've also have the 8BitDo Retro Receiver for NES/SNES/SFC Classic Edition so I can use these and other compatible controllers wirelessly with the mini Nintendo classic consoles. Great controllers.

  • Aren't they the same size a an original SNES controller?

  • How’s the battery life on SF30 Pro?

  • +1

I own 4x SFC30. They are amazing. I am a big NES, SNES nerd and collector and find these very comparable to my original controllers. Battery life is excellent. The D Pads are great.

It is essential that you perform a firmware upgrade asap as very early models had issues with bluetooth pairing.

The SFC30 uses the same firmware as the SF30 so it can be difficult to locate the above firmware on 8bitdo's website.

  • I have a feeling this will be tiny in my adult hands vs my childhood memories of holding a SNES controller =P

  • Make sure to get this. It's the most visually accurate SNES controller 8Bitdo ever made, and they don't make it anymore.
