CBA Getting Rid of American Express - Need Alternatives!

Hi everyone,

I just realised CBA is killing off the American Express card linked to my Diamond Rewards Card (the diamond card I just paid $349 annual fee for). Not happy!

Can anyone recommend a good rewards card that has zero international transaction fees (or at least an AMEX with zero international fees), a good rewards program, and free travel insurance?

    Sign up directly with AMEX. At least you can get 4 supplementary cards ;)

      The thing I worry about with Amex is that this is my primary card to pay for everything and so many places don’t accept Amex :( I want to shut this one down and start over!

        So get the westpac combo

        Or keep the commbank MasterCard and apply for a Amex via Amex.

        Or get the ANZ deal (very popular on OzB) with a Amex deal.

          ANZ does not have an Amex card any more either

    Should only used Amex for overseas and Coles, Woolies, Petrol stations and DJ/Myer only.

      Sorry I worded that badly! I meant the CBA diamond card is the account I use to pay for everything (MasterCard and Amex). I know they changed the point structure but I made adjustments and it’s been ok. But now taking away the Amex completely is just not on! I use the travel insurance and international fee waiver frequently!

      Thank you! I applied and was approved and then remembered I didn’t check to see if they waive foreign transaction fees. Do you know what the situation is?

    Has anyone contacted the complaints department about the closure of their card?

    I’ve been discussing it with them and wonder if they are getting any volume of unhappy customers.
