    Got one! Thanks OP
Planning to run some tests on this $2 5A cable and some other Type C cables and see if they do live up to the descriptions

    • +2

Use one of these to fast charge pixel 2. It is same as google supplied times. Good as backup and doesn't get that weird dirty look white cables do.

      • +7

That's why I never wear white underwear

        • +1

          tmi. lol

  • +1

I heard some pretty scathing reviews of these "5A" cables from the last post. Hard to tell with unbranded (defect batch gets sold as unbranded?).

    • -2

For reference a domestic appliance cord is rated for 10A so you can imagine how an actual 5A cable would feel and weigh.

      • +2

        At 240V, not 5 or 9

      • +2

        240V @ 10A = 2400W

        vs.

        5V @ 5A = 25W
        9V @ 5A = 45W
        20V @ 5A = 100W

This is why it doesn't use or need the same wire gauge as your appliance cord.

        • The voltage/wattage is irrelevant for power loss in a cable.

P = I^2 R = current squared times resistance (resistance is inversely proportional to cross-sectional area)

The voltage will be a factor in deciding insulation size, but not copper size. USB cables will be smaller than mains cables for this reason, but not the voltage/overall power level.

    • +2

In the last posts there were heaps of people with devices that do not support 5A charging. It's important to check first :)

      • +1

Yep, which is why I decided against posting this in case people buy a cable and then find out it isn't suitable.

        • +1

Even if you had it in the title and the first line in bold they'd still miss it.

  • +12

Be careful of Zapals. I've never received my order and they don't respond.

    • +2

Agreed. Zapals are the worst of the Chinese e-commerce sites. Never had a problems with the others.

    • You didn't take a hint from their permanent we'r sorry page?

    • I've only ordered once. Took 3 months to arrive.
Coincidentally, I complained at 3mth - 1 week, and oh look it was just shipped the same hour as my complaint.

    • oh thats really unfortunate. I've ordered simple items from them a handful of times over the past 2 years and they've delivered the item.

  • +4

Zapals are diabolical with customer service they don't reply, they don't fix warranty problems and I never received items ordered I won't deal with Zapals ever again. Beware don't put yourself though it.

  • +4

No USB-IF certification = use at your own risk.

  • Beware only USB 2.0 speeds!

    • +1

Because these are only for charging. Would stay away though, USB-IF certified like Blitzwolf or AmazonBasics aren't much more expensive on sale.

    • +2

But it said USB 3.1 in the title.

      • Because false advertising. Even Blitzwolf was called out by Benson Leung due to false advertising on Amazon US (and on the cable package). They did however respond quickly and stripped off the USB 3.0 falsely advertised on the package/store.

        • Probably, the 5A rating is also a false advertising. Too good to be true for the price, IMO.

        • Benson is doing gods work

    • which phones support usb 3.1?

      • S9, probably a few others around as well.

        • oh right

cause all my 8 series samsung phones are still usb 2.0 godamnit

  • Target has them for $2 at the moment.

    • +1

Really? Where? Not every cable is created equally - these are 5 amp cables.

      • I saw them at Greensborough and Northland on clearance.

        • Yes but were they 5A cables?

          • @Clear: I don't know.
I just know that they had USB C to USB C

    • +2

      where?

    • +1

I couldn't find anything online. Are they on clearance? Tell me more.

  • +2

my cable has not arrived since a month ago. and they gave me an invalid tracking number. i contacted them and they have not replied

    • get paypal to reverse the txn

    • +1

      Same.

Ordered August 8, 2018. Opened a support ticket and received:

"Your order #xxx was shipped out on 8-15 via non-register air mail without tracking.

Estimated time of shipping is 7-20 business days from the date of dispatch. In particular cases, it would be longer as more than 45 days depending on the clearance, local post, destination, etc

Would you please wait for more days patiently? Your patience will be highly appreciated, sincerely sorry for any inconvenience caused."

      I wouldn't risk it.

  • So this cable is rated for 5 amps, but what voltage? My Macbook Pro charger runs at 20V, is this cable fine for that high a voltage?

    • Never mind, just saw in the listing it says "Max 100W charging" so that would be 20V at 5A 👍

  • -3

Cheaper at target, saw some at Warringah mall for $2 each (1m white).

    • what a troll, comparing this with target cables

      • -1

Youre the far king troll. Just saying there are $2 ones at target and farquits think they’re funny by calling troll. Farq @holyland

  • Feels too good to be true..

  • +5

Negging due to serious issues with retailer.

Just had a PayPal claim finalised in my favour from the last time these were on sale.

As the 20 working day delivery time frame had lapsed (it had been about 45) and the tracking number I was provided with didn't work (i.e. was fake), I opened a support ticket through Zapals' website and got the boilerplate "please wait a bit longer" response.

The order then disappeared from the history page in my account on the Zapals website. This seems to be common practice based on other people reporting the same thing in other deals. Zapals just went dark on all communications from that point forward.

Even if I'd received it, based on feedback provided by people who did receive them from the previous deal the specs on these were not as advertised anyway.

Now to wait for the standard rep post in response to this with profuse apologisings and a request for my order number.

    Never again Zapals.

  • +2

This Usb 3.1 is fake. Stay away.

  • +5

Just giving some feedback and personal experience with this seller
I have ordered 7 items from Zapals out of which 4 didn’t arrive and when asked they said we sent them, they may have got lost and gave me a refund. You tell me, what are the chances of three items bought within a week of each other and not even 1 turning up??
It appears that this is their strategy and they don’t send items to everyone. If anyone asks they happily refund it but how many people will ask for a refund on these cheap items?
This was my personal experience with this seller and personally won’t buy anything from them again

    • I thought I was the only one with Zapals crap not turning up…

  • Dodggy Cable, doesnt match specification, stay away

    • Proof?

      • -1

Typical OzBargain response. No proof so we just neg to make it disappear.

  • +1

My previous orders with Zapal didn't come through too. Stay away from Zapals

  • Dash charging compatible?

  • +6

Comment below from a ozbargainer who got one from last deal here in August. Not sure if you read this as truth/proof, but be aware.

Got this cable yesterday and it is thin and no brand. Compaired with Tronsmart typec-typec cable. Tronsmart gave 3A to my phone and this cable was only 1.8A. The description on web site is
    "
    High Speed Data Transmission

Delivers Rapid speed of up to 5Gbps, you can transfer large files in seconds.
    "
But it actually is a usb 2.0 cable which can be only 480M. That means it a fake 5Gbps cable.

Finally I noticed that some details

    Cable Specification 1P+3C+AL, OD=4.0

That means 1 power line, 3 data line (usb dp,dm,cc) and shield. This is a typical usb2.0 type c cable with cc line for PD.

I gave it one star comment but blocked by zapal. Shame.

My suggestion: To buy Tronsmart or Blitzwolf to avoid the rubbish.

    • +1

      Thanks for info 😊

      • I read this after doing the typical OzBargain habit ( for cheaper stuff anyway ), buy first,… then read comments and reviews later lol.

Oh well, one more spare USB C charging cable could come in handy even as a back up or as a help in an emergency.

        • +1

I was tempted to get one for my OP6 but it seems like their cables are infact proprietary and any old USB-C cable with 5A support won't work.

  • +2

My previous orders with Zapal didn't come through too. I have ordered 3 things and one hasn't arrived

    • Ordered on 13/08/18. Just received my order today

  • +2

Zapals fraud.. ordered a watch, never delivered

  • +2

Ended up negging the deal. I ordered a pair of USB-C cables back in August when they were at a similar price to this and they still haven't delivered. I've since put forward a PayPal claim.

  • +1

Last ordeer for thse cables Aug 9th, shipped 21st of Aug, and still not received after 2 months of ordering. When I told them I never received it they replied back I check my address I ordered with and go ask my post office ☺.

  • +1

Be careful. They will not deliver. I guess that is their business model: take cheap order in bulk and never deliver.

  • I ordered them Bluetooth earphones off em. Never received. Support is non responsive.

  • This deal is well and truly over…
