Nearly the same price as petrol.

Good for cars that prefer to drink oil instead of petrol. Rotaries and audis for example.

Excellent price on the Gulf Western.

  • Being a newbie, just curious if anything bad will happen if I fill my '13 Honda Civic with 5W-30? I think it says 0W-20 somewhere in the manual.

    • I would stick with what the manufacturer recommends.

      • the 0W indicates the thickness when it's cold, and the 20 is the thickness at operating temperature, so technically a 30 at operating temp is "too thick" for your engine.

  • Castrol Edge 5w-30 for an Accord Euro CL9 2004? 228xxx kms currently and due for a service.

Good or Bad? Best bang for buck? Daily use - completely stock. Driven about 30kms a day.

    • Check what the owners manual says in regard to Xw-XX and other specifications/ratings needed. In terms of quality, Castrol Edge is great.

  • Has anyone tried using the Gulf Western Premium Gold 15W-40 in a wet clutch motorcycle?

It doesn't have a JASO MA certification but it says on the web page "suitable for four stroke motorcycles fitted with wet clutches".

    Thanks OP!

  • Is the Gulf Western Semi-Synthetic or Mineral?

    • +1

I wondered that too. If it doesn't say its mineral based.

My concern was: "Suitable for LPG vehicles"

      I looked into this…

LPG oils (as with Diesel oils) contain low SAPS (otherwise referred to as Low Ash). In short these oils contain less additives which is great for those engines but not so much for petrol engines as additives help an engines resistance to acid corrosion. In short I'd probably pass on this unless you have one of the above.

    • Syn-X are the synthetic range
