Cashing a Foreign Cheque

Hi everyone,

Can anyone point me in the right direction to minimise fees on cashing a foriegn cheque.
It is a cheque written in my name and the account I put it in needs to be in my name, Westpac have offered me a terrible rate and a transaction fee also.

Any ideas on how I can easily get a better rate/ less cost?

Cheers

If you can be bothered, open a Citibank Plus transaction account. Free to cash foreign cheques, just need to mail it in to them, and their exchange rates would definitely be better than westpac

That's what I use to cash in my US dividend cheques

  • I deposit foreign cheques into my Citibank Plus transaction account at the NAB branch. You can also deposit them at any Australia Post outlet with Bank@Post facilities.
