  • excellent monitor for an excellent price! definitely a bargain

Dell selling these @ $329, while
Dell outlet selling these for @ $201 (or $193 for the p2210f - not sure what is the diff)

only difference is that the p2210 on dell for $329 comes with a 3 year warranty.

  • doesn't seem to be a postage price on there. It says $0.. ???

  • +2

    It says free shipping:)

  • Optimal Resolution:
    1680 X 1050 at 60 Hz

    • +2

      16:10 is better

but meh.. this is still a TN panel =\

price is good though for 3 year warranty.. with height adjustable and pivot stand

      • -1

        16:10 > 16:9 for a computer monitor. I'd take a 16:10 TN over a 16:9 IPS any day of the week.

        • +2

          How about 22" 16:10 TN vs 20" 16:10 IPS?

I just bought the 2009W (20" IPS) from the Dell Outlet for $175.

        • lol IPS shits all over TN

but meh my 2209WA is a 16:10 IPS so i'm not complaining

        • For most computer things yes, it is a lot nicer to have those vertical pixels, but 16:9 is more natural for human vision (so good for movies and games) as we tend to prefer having more things lengthways rather than up/down. Either way it's quite a good deal for a TN panel.

        • playing a 16:9 movie on a 16:10 doesn't make a difference to human vision.. u'll just get black bars on the top and bottom..

        • But if you've got a reasonably good quality movie, then a 16:9 may be able to display it more effectively (as it's closer to the original aspect ratio)

        • -2

umm again that shouldn't matter as there's aspect ratio controls in MPC/VLC/etc

        • +2

          @Mark Heath
There is only so much sideways a human can go before losing it. The reason for widescreen is because it's more imersive, by using widescreen we can use more of our periferals and have more of the movie/show w/e in our sight.
But for productivity and normal everyday tasks the 16:10 has its purpose as we can be more organised that way. For example if you had a whole paragraph of text on one line that extended forever sideways, pretty hard to read. When we pick up a piece of paper we hold it in portrait and not landscape. Our focus is limited to what's right infront of us and not what we can see in the corner of our eyes. That's why for computer monitors teh old 4:3 (or was it 5:4?)is imo still best for office environments, 16:10 for everyday use, 16:9 for well nothing really (maybe office environments where users are constantly having multiple windows opened side by side, but has to be at least 24" or bigger to be practical)

On a side note, are you aware of the golden ratio? 16:10 is much closer to the golden ratio than 16:9. Take a look into the golden ratio and you might see why 16:10 is actually a nicer ratio or something lol.

        • nah, I do know that 16:10 is generally best for an "everything" monitor, you have just said what I meant to say in much better wording :)

      • Only a 1 year warranty through ozstock. Ordered one anyway as I needed a monitor with display port.

  • I'm just too dumb, but can anyone tell me what are the USB ports on a monitor for?

    • +1

i'm pretty sure they're there to function as a USB hub

      • ah i see, thx lots

        • -2

you can probably use the monitor usb ports while the computer is off, too (e.g. charging phone)

      • +1

Very useful for wireless keyboards with USB receivers - improves reception by having the receiver up near the keyboard instead of tucked away behind the computer.

  • -1

What a shame it has no HDMI connectivity.

    • I've always wondered, what's the benefit of having HDMI on monitors that have no speakers?

      • +2

For people who think that HDMI is "better" :-)

      • absolutely nothing.. but u just have to buy a HDMI —> DVI cable.. which is a little bit of an inconvenience

      • My work issued Dell monitor has a sound bar attachment that provides sound (though not particularly good quality).

      • A lot of laptops only have hdmi and a lot of slim tower desktops have hdmi as their second output as two dvi ports won't fit. Hardly a deal breaker either way but it could be useful.

      • xbox360/ps3 connection. um, i see your point now. hehe. well if it has audio out you can route the sound to a pair of speakers or amplifier.

  • Is this LED back lit?

    • No, they are CCF backlit.

  • LOL I am staring at this screen now at work.

Its not too bad a monitor.

  • Wish there was a similar deal for a 24" instead :(

    Really need one badly.

    • +1

      agreed!

  • so what does back to base warranty mean when you buy it online…is there a local service centre in Perth or do I have to post it

  • +1

Either I'm an idiot or the monitor isn't coming up for half price.

    • +1

Are you clicking the right link? The monitor isn't being sold by Dell, but OzStock: http://www.ozstock.com.au/

  • +1

I bought 2 24"s a white back for around $220 i think? They were just spares because they were cheap :S..

ended up giving one away and another one is in the house in the "spare room".

    • haha. classic impulse buy!
gotta resist the temptation to buy just cause it's cheap.

  • +1

    SOLD OUT

    • Yay glad I got mine in time. Looking forward to this monitor

  • +1

Yup sold out, please update the title

  • was gonna get one when i got home

IT HAS USB PORTS—> THAT'S AWESOME FOR MY NETBOOK SETUP

  • If the Dell (manufacturer) warranty is 3 yrs, why is this only a 1yr warranty?

    • Because they were efectively being sold to ozstock as 2nd hand by the commonwealth Bank. So Ozstock have to provide warranty themselves. No harm seeing if Dell will honour their warranty, but they would not be bound by law to do so.

  • Wish it's a IPS panel with this price :)

    • Yeah same here; when I read "advanced viewing angle adjustability" I was thinking it might be an IPS display, only to be disappointed when I Googled the specs. Probably would have bought 2 of them if they were IPS. :)

  • yeah my work ones are terrible from the wrong angle, but i think it means the stands are adjustable?
i much prefer my 24" benq than the del p2210's

  • Offer seems to have expired - they're back to $329.00
    Pity

  • got mine delivered this morning in northern beaches of sydney, very fast. excellent monitors!

  • -1

If anyone is interested in this monitor (my stock was also from commonwealth, but these monitors were never used by them. They are in new condition)send an email to [email protected] as I currently have them in stock.
Mention "ozbargin" as subject field to receive discounted price. I also offer pick up (Sydney) and delivery (price varies depending on location, some locations are free)

    • what price are you offering if I'm from Sydney? Delivery free?
I'm hoping at least the $168.88 offered here

      • they are $170, i just emailed. the email address does cast some doubt.. i'm buying three, i'll let you know how it goes.

    • Not that you're not a legitimate user, but your activity of registering only to post that does seem slightly suspicious to me. If anybody's going ahead with buying from Dsau, perhaps be a little extra cautious.

      • i've sent a few emails back and forth and apparently it is this product here but with a ozbargain discount of $30 bringing it to $170

        http://joeysworld.com.au/product/dell-22-lcd-monitor-new

they accept paypal, cash and direct deposit… paypal may be a good fallback, does anyone have experience getting money back off paypal if purchases fall through?

        • -1

I buy plenty online stock and never had any issues with paypal.
I have just purchased 7 of the monitors for a client and all new in box. Since I live in Fairfield the seller let me pick up locally as I needed them urgently. Pleasure to deal with the person. Invoice provided. Very happy.

        • No offense there Mrlv, but it appears that you registered merely to post that.

      • Very suspicious for Mrlv and Dsau
both registered just to post comment

        ebay link for dsau's monitor

  • no offence taken Mark. thought i may share my 2 cents with the rest on here. At the end of the day we all want to know buyers experience. When it comes down to it its upto the buyer to sus out the seller to find out if they are legit sellers.
