Don't really think you can say one of the best NC headphones?? New Sonys blow these out of the water and can be had for 350

    • +3

I have both and I disagree. The NC on these is a lot better on flights. The only gripe I have with these is that the switch, I.e. the click part is a hit or miss. On sound quality, these would be better on the bass. The Sony ones are good, don't get me wrong, but these are WAY better as an overall package. I certainly won't say that these blow the Sony out of the water though :)

      • Have you tried the sonys? their NC is bar none, a big step up from even QC35, seinheisers have great sound but they arent known for leading in NC

reread your post and you say you have both?

Why do you think NC on senhesisers are better on a flight out of interest? The Sonys arent perfect (get hot and fit isnt perfect) but their NC is pretty amazing in many environments

        • Trans Pacific, once every month :) they drown out a lot more of the ambient noise as compared to the Sony and a lot better for long wearing… The Sony is nowhere comparable on the NC. Don't own the qc35, but do have the qc25, so I might be comparing oranges.. But both Sony and pxc550 are head and shoulders above them..

          • @rgovind: The new sonys have only been out a month so you are comparing the 3s and not the 2s?

            35 vs 25 arent comparable.

@ozlegacy: Yup, picked up from best buy in August. Two trans Pacific and one trans Atlantic flight.

      • So these are better than the Sony and Bose?

        • Can't compare qc35, but better that q25… Don't have the qc35. More comfortable and better NC. I like the bass on these better, but that is subjective…

        • Of course. SEnnheiser is an audiophile grade brand.

  • Got this early last year when Qantas store had 50% off points promo. Very impressed with it, upgraded from QC35. It supports simultaneous paired device connections.

    • -2

The Sony supports 2 simultaneous devices also

    • What do you think of the sound quality? I read many reviews saying superior to Sony/Bose, but when shopping, everytime I tried these I wasn't impressed in comparison to the others.

      • I'd say the bass is better on these as compared to Sony. Qc25 is a lower tier.. Can't compare the qc35 though…

      • I say pretty good, mainly bought it for the NC. When I bought it back in Dec 2016 at the Qantas shop, the Bose QC35 that I had didn't offer aptX support to go with my LG V20. I'm a bit biased towards Sennheiser though as I've had my HD600 for almost 20 years now.

    • The Sony supports 2 simultaneous devices also

      • Yes, both Sony and pax 550 do.

    • Same, Can't fault these especially when the better half starts up….. I can assure you that when that happens. I put these on and it's pure bliss. Their NC ability is awesome….

    • Hi,
Do you mind telling exactly what month/date was there a 50% off on Qantas Store? I am planning to grab that kind of deal too. Thanks in advance

If you want the honest truth, I didn't know any better. Was trying to help someone out. It's good that you can help others out by pointing out my flaws. I'm ok with that as it does help others, just don't be a jerk about it.

      • +3

There will be a few of these.. Don't worry.

They've posted 25 times before and been a member for 7 years.
Seems like they should have known better.

  • This vs. the Sony XM3 re: sound quality?

    • Sony is MUCH better across all the ranges.

    • Arguably the same. Want better sound quality, get the Momentums. They make all the Sony's, Bose et al sound mundane.
Downside is they're uncomfortable on long stretches and NC isn't as good.

Sony is the "all rounder". Great NC, great sound.

      • Nah the XM3 have much better bass and NC than the Momentum’s wireless.

        • Which have the best NC?

          • @chyawala: Bose by a small margin. Maybe small enough to not even notice. Sony and Bose are the two front runners.

        • NC yes. "Bass" is something I always laugh at. Poor bass drowns out the rest of the range. Might as well buy Beats.
Momentums > Sony > Bose for sound quality. I have two of them (Momentums, QC35) and have demoed the Sony's several times.

          • @beatsntoons: Bass of the Sony XM3 are much better than Senn M2.

            • @congo: If you don't want to hear anything else, sure.

Momentum 2 wireless for 245 recently is a better deal

    • +1

I find my Momentum 2 wireless more comfortable than my XM3's

I think the Momentums have the sound edge too. The XM3's have far superior NC.

My comfort issue with the XM3's is that the cushion is too soft / compresses too much, so that parts of my ear end up resting on the inside of the headphone. Will be swapping the pads with third party pads in the near future as the NC is good enough to muck around a bit.

      • I’d love to know which pads you are looking at as I have the same comfort issue. I haven’t seen this complaint pop up much in all the reviews and forums I’ve read so it’d be great to hear how you go after the swap.
