Kuala Lumpur - ATM Cash Withdrawal Recommendations (ING)

Hi,

Will be travelling to Kuala Lumpur in 2 weeks time. Does anyone have any experiences using their ING card? Can we withdraw from any ATMs and what will the rates be?

Thank you for your help!

  • yes no problems at all.

rate will be mid market minus 2% or so… better than any exchange place

i got 500 myr for $171.02 few weeks ago so 2.92 myr to $

    • I found KL to be a strange place where some of the exchange places beat ATMs. They'd always be slightly over the google rate for the day.

      • +1

yeh very rare, i had same in chile two vendors across the road from each other had conflicting rates. i bought off one and sold to the other $500 a time and made about $2, it got boring after 3 times.

  • Plus they rebate any atm charges.

  • Local exchange rates often beat ATMs in KL. Not all exchange places, but if you look around you can find good ones easily enough. ATM withdrawal is more convenient and your ING will work almost anywhere with a decent rate, but if you are going to be there for a while and want the absolute best value, bring some cash.

  • Can practically use any ATM with the visa logo. Rates are governed by visa, not the ATM provider. Fees charged by the ATM will be rebated so no need to be picky :P

But make sure you've done your due diligence with ING to activate the rebates.
Today is the last day to activate it for next month.

  • make sure you press "Credit" so it uses the visa network for the transaction.
some of the Malaysian atm machines wont accept foreign cards, some will not work with out you pressing credit.

ing will refund the fees if you meet the conditions.
