Wow 1.2k on a non audiophile brand sound bar.
    Hope she's good!

    • that's what he said

    • Absolutely crazy to pay this much $$ for a cruddy coundbar.
You could get a far superior REAL speaker system for much less.

    • yeah, best delivery options yet

    • I haven't ordered from their eBay store but have purchased a few things direct from Appliances Online and their delivery service was second to none. Let you choose the day then ring that morning to give a 2 hour window of when the driver will be there and their contact details and they were spot on, no waiting around.

  • RRP is $1999

    What is the normal price?

    • Jb may do a deal around 1750. This is a good price! Was looking for something for the movie room. This came up but I rather get an av receiver and speakers

      • This is more for living room setups where u dont want too much clutter of wires and speakers.

  • Definitely a better price than I got mine for

  • Are they any good? Dont know if i should go the receiver way or surround sound bar

    • they seem good because easy to set up, pretty compact compared to a receiver setup, and good sound
wouldn't beat a proper surround setup in terms of immersion though

    • If you got an option than there isn't an option. You go the receiver :)

I bought this in September, when it was just launched and paid more than this. This replaced by Bose Soundtouch sounbdbar (which earlier replaced my Yamaha 5.1 setup). I can comfortably say that this is one of my best purchases. The sound from this is truly amazing, especially if you are playing Dolby Atmos sound track. For non atmos soundtracks, it has the option to transform that into virtual surround sound but it's not as good as the actual atmos itself. I must say that the walls of my lounge are not leveled but even then it does a great job. When I watch any atmos supported movie, this one has enough power to produce thunder in the lounge.

For me, I was after a cleaner looking system and was ready to make bit of a compromise on the sound quality over having to run all the wires in the lounge. I definitely don't regret buying this at all. It does come with the rear speakers, which have to be powered separately but not wired to the main soundbar. They do a pretty decent job as well.

One thing to be careful of, the latest firmware update causes bit of a CEC issue i.e. you will have to manually select the input as compared with it automatically picking up the source, based on what you switched on. This wasn't the case with the original firmware out of the box. The firmware gets updated as soon as you connect the soundbar to Wifi via the SmartThings app. Only way to not update the firmware is to not connect the soundbar to SmartThings, until Samsung has released another firmware.

      • Edit: This replaced "my" Bose Soundtouch.

I have the HW-K550 and it's utter garbage. If the 950 was 4x better it would still be crap. The discounted price $1200 seems really expensive.
Bass hardly works, settings have to SW max and Bass max to get anything, which is still way too low. Mids are weak/poor.
Sound doesn't sound true. It's so bad I feel like it's broken.
Go get Denon/Klipsch or known manuf's.

I've had this for 1 year and bought for $1,287 would have been on OzBargain as I get everything from here. Bought from custom home theater solutions from eBay. 20% off.

As for quality I moved from a Sony muteki 7.2 and like the compact size but don't think I'd use Atmos feature.. ideally I could just use a 3.1 sound bar and be happy but since I sold the muteki it wasn't much to upgrade to this.

This version only came out a few months ago. At least this one properly supports DTS unlike the old one which never got the promised firmware update.

How would you have this for a year when it came out August

You may be referring to HW-K950 and not HW-N950. I have no experience with HW-K950 but I have read that this is heaps better than HW-K950. I have HW-N950 and very happy with it.

  • Does this support lpcm 5.0 channels decoding or is it DTS n DD only?

    • LPCM 7.1 I believe. Definitely some form of LPCM anyway.

  • If I had the space I'd probably go for receiver

  • Doesn't look like there's any left

    • Aaargh! Now they have one in stock, but won't deliver to Sydney and I live in Sydney! And they are based in Sydney!

      • Just called them, and they explained that it will not show ability to deliver to Sydney because there would be no stock in Sydney. Apparently they are on back order.
They also confirmed that they cannot match the ebay price discount.
        Oh well…

  • Looks like they're out of stock!

  • I've just removed mine from my basket. Not sure if that will help someone else if it appears. Good luck.
