Dell is having a "Webcrashers" sale. 40% off doesn't necessarily mean it is cheaper than buying it off eBay, but some deals seem a bit cheaper direct from Dell (and may offer more customization options). For example:

New Inspiron 15 7000
8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7-8565U Processor
Windows 10 Home (64 bit) English
8GB 8Gx1 DDR4, 2666MHz
512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

Getting an i7-8565U laptop on eBay would cost $1,279 even after 20% off code. Best previous deal on a i7-8565 laptop on OzBargain was $1359.20.

There are also 40% off deals on monitors etc.

  • Looks like a pretty good deal for the specs, does anyone have details on the screen? e.g. %SRGB.

    • In the Inspiron models, Dell normally uses IPS screens with about 60% sRGB. The higher quality screens are saved for the XPS line.

  • Does this work with an active stylus?

  • which ones are 40% off ???

    • The ones that say "Hot Deal: Incl. 40% Off".

  • Wny would you go this over the i5 gaming model here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/413344? If you need 6 cores, wouldn't you also need better dedicated graphics like 1050ti?

Some of the more exxy laptops are better refurb or ebay.

    • According to the specs this is much lighter at 1.87kg vs 2.7kg. Some people (e.g. software developers) generally need fast CPUs, not GPUs, so they would find this machine faster, not just lighter.

Most gamers would want a better GPU. Most non-gamers would be fine with the cheaper 8550U CPU. It is a bit of a niche machine, aimed at power users who don't do serious gaming regularly I suppose. There are some gaming machines included in this sale, but they didn't seem cheaper than eBay.

  • Thanks for posting. As a power user who doesn't game, this is a great deal. Bought it.

  • Do you think it needs a RAM upgrade?

    • I think it is cheaper to add RAM later if you need it in this case.
