  • Was removed already!!!

  • The same fakes can be bought from ebay around $30 ..
    http://computers.shop.ebay.com.au/USB-Flash-Drives-/51071/i.…

The real 256gb kingston usb is over $600 and have different look too.

people are blatantly selling fakes now .. geez..

  • Fake for sure!

  • Damn I just bought some, linked from allthedeals web site.

Offer hasn't been removed yet. What should I do?? :(

    • you have either got a bargain, or have been duped….

i suspect this story will unfold over the next couple of days/weeks

if you do not get what you paid for you are entitled to a refund.

  • I just wrote to them, asking to cancel the order. I don't want to know if it's a bargain or not haha.

    • I seriously doubt you got a bargain there, because they retail for 6-800! Fakes have been spotted on ebay for $100 lol.

What they do is sell fakes with say ~16-32GB of space and hack them to make them display that they've got 256GB of space.

Always a good idea to do a quick search for the RRP before buying something that's 6-7 times cheaper than RRP.

      They should refund you!

Maybe that's the real meaning of 75% off. It's not off the price, it's off the capacity. :)

      • I hope so, Michalek. I'm hoping it's quick and easy. I really don't want to do any paperwork to get a refund, if this is a scam product.

      • Errr, why would they have so much space on a fake? It'll be expensive!
Probably 512MB ~2GB chips at most.

        • From experience. I purchased a "32GB" Sony stick which was actually 8GB :)

If they put 512MB-2GB, people would fill them up really quickly and start complaining that their drives aren't working.

    • You should be refunded: wrong description. Not what was stated

  • The same website also has a 1TB WD pocket drive (2.5") for $99 delivered looks cheap, but has anyone bought and receive anything from this mob or this is just a scam?? Would Mods care to comment on site's legitability?

    • Would Mods care to comment on site's legitability?

Sorry but mods' responsibility is keeping OzBargain moderated. We have no authority to make call on a site's legality.

However I agree with what has been commented so far. 256GB USB drives cost heaps, and I think what is selling here is very questionable. Having them on eBay sold by unknown Chinese merchants is one thing. But now it's been sold by an Australian Pty Ltd — that would be breaching the law I reckon, if they knowingly sell counterfeit products.

      • Thanks for the reply Scotty. I knew it was too good to be true!
I was actually wondering if the group buy site being known to you or others for another totally separate deal they have still available for the 1TB USB3.0 WD Passport deal above.
Maybe I should ask in a separate subject for this 1TB as seems a deal delivered for $99 only and maybe from a different vendor too. Perhaps anyone else have bought from this Group Buy company any comments???

  • yes

    //end of thread

  • Ahaha you should check out this ebay posting

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Brand-New-Kingston-256-GB-USB-Flash-D…

Its quite hilarious…he puts a disclaimer on his product description about his 1 negative (which ive never seen)and has a history of selling dodgy nicotine patches…apparently the negative "dameged his opinion"

    lol.

Shame some deal aggregators are not doing their due diligence and actually promoting this sale! Extremely questionable at this price and lack of detail of its origins and warranty.

  • If they were real people would be buying them and then selling them from $400.

    I seen quite a forum posts(whirlpool e.g.) on these.
    They are all fakes.

I ordered two of these before realising they were fake.

I subsequently but a block on my credit card and sent you a facebook message telling you to cancel my order immediately.

You wrote back saying no problem so I took the block off my credit card.

Today I noticed that yesterday you have charged me $25.00.

      You have broken the law.

This was in no way an authorised transaction. You can't even pretend that you forgot to cancel my order, because my order total would have been $69.98. You have just arbitrarily put $25 on to my credit card, presumably hoping that I wouldn't notice.

Well, I have noticed, and I suggest you remedy this as soon as possible or you will face the consequences.

      • The consequences of a chargeback? Or a personal visit?

Someone sent me this link about fake hard drives so be careful there are now fake portable hard drives on the market.

tbh i think its kind of clever whoever thought of this. Something to watch out for.
