Carcassonne is a tile-based board game for two to five players, published in 2000. It received the Spiel des Jahres and the Deutscher Spiele Preis awards in 2001.

It is named after the medieval fortified town of Carcassonne in southern France, famed for its city walls. The game has spawned many expansions and spin-offs, and several PC, console and mobile versions. A new edition, with updated artwork on the tiles and the box, was released in 2014.

    I know the description says 2-5 players, but is this game decent with only 2 players? I don't think I will have the chance to play it with more….

      It's totally fine with 2 players. Some might say it's even better with only 2 because you run out of tiles far quicker with more players.

      I play this 2p with my girlfriend quite a lot - we went out and bought 6 expansions for it 2 weekends ago!

      I have played probably 50+ games, with 2 to 6 players (expansion version has additional player).
      My favourite number of players is 2 or 3, because you have much greater control of your strategy. With more players it can become more chaotic.
