I'm looking for a monitor to plug my Macbook pro into at work.

The S2817Q is down from $798.99 to $479.99 https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-28-ultra-hd-4k-monitor-…

The S2419HM is down from $399 to $279.30 https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-24-ultrathin-monitor-s2…

Does anyone have any recommendations of either of these or an alternate screen for my use? No gaming or watching movies - occasional youtube video but mostly email, word, powerpoint, web browsing. Appreciate any suggestions :)

I know LG make a super high end screen for macs, but I'm not keen to spend either $1010 or $1899, even though it would be good to just have the single connection to the screen.

Don't forget Cashback.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2018

That S2817Q monitor is a TN monitor so not as good as IPS for colour or contrast. I'm looking for a monitor for my MacBook Pro and decided on the LG 27UK600 mainly because of the great review it got on rtings.com They review the UK650 but its the same panel.
Just waiting on a sale price for it. Best so far is Kogan at $660 delivered.

    • Thanks, I'm a bit of a noob with this stuff. I don't even know the difference between TN and IPS…

    • I was curious about your suggestion until I read this at Rtings.. "In dark rooms, blacks appear gray."

It's a mid level 4K monitor. There will be trade offs somewhere. The best 4K's will be around $1000 or more. I wont be in a dark room so that negative doesnt concern me too much.
For the very best buy a LG Ultra Fine 5K display for $1800 or an iMac.

      • Inherent in all IPS

Get OLED and risk burn-in if you want IQ of IPS and blacks of VA.

Or wait for new display tech - aka OLED w/o the burn-in
