Dash Cam Recommendations (Black Friday Deals or Otherwise)

Hi everyone,

On the hunt for a dash cam for my car, with the following criteria in mind:
- HD video quality
- Wide viewing angle
- Heat resistant
- Loop recording
- $100 budget

I purchased this AUKEY Dash Cam last year for the missus when Amazon didn’t have their shipping restrictions but now I’m limited for choice.

With the Black Friday deals now is the time to look so any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I think I'm going to get this Blueskysea B1W deal back for next week if you're interested.

    • Looks good and reviews are clean, only downside is lack of a screen but the app would make it easy I guess. Any cheeky deals on this one?

      • Probably $60 delivered again, hopefully get the deal by Wednesday for OzBargain's 12th Birthday event.

        • So there might be a new promo code next week? If that’s the case I might get the SD card this weekend and the camera then.

          • @PasqualeOz: Yes, I've spoken to the rep. You can buy it with an included SD card but SD cards are cheap anyway.

            • @neil: Awesome, I’ll wait till then. Thanks for replying m8

    • is this going to happen?

      • Yep tomorrow. Just got the code.

        • Any updates on this please :D

        • it's well past lunch time…just sayin :)

          • @[Deactivated]: I'm eating my lunch now. :)

@neil: if you happen to be having alphabet soup, and see some kind of code in it, feel free to post it ;)

  • I purchased this AUKEY Dash Cam(amazon.com) last year for the missus when Amazon didn’t have their shipping restrictions but now I’m limited for choice.

Amazon just backflipped on the restriction so you could re-buy from Amazon US again

    • True, however this is a third party seller (I.e. not Amazon direct) and so it says unavailable for delivery to Australia,

  • If you want a screen, we have the Viofo dual cam A129, which has lasted a Perth summer, so I'd expect their single cam models to be similar in durability. If you hunt around, you should be able to find their one of their single cam models around the $100 mark with the difficult discount codes and cashbacks floating around.

    • Provide link please?

  • Sorry I can't post to eBay - search for Viofo A119 on eBay and you'll get both of their single camera models. I'm not sure of the difference between the A119 and A119S, but I'm sure they're still good as they wouldn't be that different to the dual cam version.

  • I've been researching and I think I want a mini 0906. But just waiting on a deal. I missed out on the 128mb SanDisk endurance card :(

128mb? woah. such capacity. 1970s me is jealous! :P

  • I got 4 of these recently, arrived today. Was setting them up, first two no problems at all, latest firmware already in them, went rather well. The app is a bit of a shambles but once you know what's where and how to use it, it's ok.

The next two both have faulty micro SD card slots, no springyness to them at all and when I do get the card in, the device keeps telling me to insert the card. Checked the cards on PC, they are fine. They are not fun to remove when the mechanism is not working as it should but it's not impossible.

Had a look over at the dashcamtalk forum, no one else seems to mention this issue, thought it'd be more prolific given 50% failure rate for me!

Oh well, now begins the trudge of communicating with the seller and sending them back etc. Ugh.
