I'm not sure if David Jones do installations and removals of old units for free but if you forego the Cashback, could price match at appliancesonline which do free delivery, installation and removal.

  • Grrr, already bought a new dryer on “Black Friday”. This one looks better for the $.

  • I bough this dryer a few weeks ago and its fantastic, a decent amount more but best I have had https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/fisher-and-paykel-8kg-condens…

    • looks good, but the one you listed cannot be wall mounted..

  • It has a 2 star rating dryer's with 2 stars will eat all your salary….

    • How many dryers are there in this price ballpark with good ratings?

      • +1

        Hills hoist , gets 100 stars ;)

    • Unless you go heat pump you don’t get the stars

Any dryer costs money to run

    • I halved my power bill going to a heat pump dryer with 7 stars. mind you my old dryer was a 10 year old simpson.
I dont have solar panels, may not be an issue if you have solar and run the dryer during the day.
pay more up front for savings later or pay less up front and no savings later. up to you.

      • Does anyone know the range of power dryers use (in watts)? Just trying to work out if you could realistically run on solar. One problem is that we'll need a dryer the most during winter and rainy days.

        • +1

each brand is unspecific about wattage. ie samsung and F+P use kwh/yr

I did find some element wattage when I was looking but just went for the best bang for buck 7 star (153-160kwh) in the end

          conventional
          EDV5552 5.5kg Sensor Dry Clothes Dryer - 2100watt

          Heat pump
          EDH3586GDW 8kg Heat Pump Condenser Dryer 900watt
Bosch 9kg Heat Pump Dryer 1000watt

No sun or rain equals no solar power

          • +1

@J5: Canberra winters consist of beautifully sunny days that can be 10c max.

            Solar works in that instance.

            • -1

@jesseboy89: No shit Sherlock solar works when it’s sunny

How’s it go in the rain ?

  • If you can afford to spend a bit more, get a condenser dryer. Vented dryers makes you feel like you're in a sauna.

    • That's a free sauna tho! Well semi haha

  • I got one of these recently during an Ebay 15% off sale: Esatto EHPD7 7kg Heat Pump Dryer (from Appliances Online). It's currently $657 delivered, but when it's on special (Ebay promotion) it's anywhere from $580 to $590-ish.

It's pretty much a rebranded Belko which is also a rebranded Kogan (no idea which one is the original), but they all look the same.

However, it says it's meant to be support "reverse tumbling" but I've never seen it spin backwards yet so either it's a lie or mine's defective. Everything still comes out fine but I might get it checked out :) EDIT - It's a lie. Found Esatto's website and there's no mention of reverse tumbling for my mobile. So far though it's made no difference in how it performs.

  • Its charging $70 delivery?
