JUST VISITED 2 OW IN SYDNEY NONE OF THEM STOCK THIS ITEM ANYMORE. ONLY ONLINE IS AVAILABLE

Yes, because those 2 OW didn't have any stock, none of them do. Did you check to see if they had any keyboards where the caps lock key isn't jammed in?

MAKES IT USELESS TO PRICE MATCH ANYWAY

    • HI HOW ARE YOU

        WHY IS EVERYONE YELLING?

        • Shhh. Keep that bargain-hunting down you lot, or take it outside.

          Trying to sleep over here.

        • NAH THEY JUST THINK THEY'RE SPECIAL, I.E. RETARDED

  • +1

    For those of you who are not deterred by the 'no USB3 cable inc.' issue;

I just went down to my local OfficeWorks store here in QLD.
They too did not have the drive in stock at the time, however the lady serving me gladly made sure some were on stock order and allowed me to pre-purchase the item WITH the 5% price beat before the stock has even arrived.

    Just to clarify;

I paid $81.70 for the item, even though it was out of stock at the time (which they usually say 'we only price beat on currently stocked items'). If you are keen on purchasing and your store is out of stock, approach the front desk nicely and ask if pre-purchasing is allowed on usually stocked items. They should help you out.

    • Thanks Whitey, which store did you go to?

I live in Bundaberg - 400KM above Brisbane.
Didn't want to post that because there's a very small chance anyone here would be in this tiny town.
Was hoping it would be useful to approach your local store to say 'hey, this mate of mine got this same deal at another OW store even though they had no stock'

        • Bundaberg represent!

        • +1

All the previous stock must be flood damaged…

  • Yea just went down to Preston OW and there isn't in stock and no other OW has them. Online only. Price match failz0r!!!!

  • Cheaper than Amazon

  • I long for the day we have HDDs that can actually transfer at 640MB/s.

  • I saw this on the HN website, was going to submit the deal, but there was an Iomega 1tb for $97 or something like that, which worked out cheaper. Was still going to post it but procrastinated, i didn't realise this was USB 3.0 though.

If it does in fact come with a small USB 3 cable, then that's great, perfectly fine i reckon.

  • WD is my favourite brand for hard drives. They've been around forever and know their stuff. :)

  • The USB controller fixed to the HDD has definately turned me off, thanks for the info… does anyone know if the Samsung S2 Portable 3.0 has the same issue? Or will I find a SATA drive inside?

    • Do you mean the 2.0? Because I have the Sammy S2 2.0 version and it's soldiered on.

  • Ya, I just, I’m really busy you know, I’ve just got so much on my plate. I got this uh, tofu salad and it’s just going everywhere man.

  • Hmmm where does the $86 come from? The price on the Harvey Norman link above say it's $149.99, did the bargain finish?

  • Purchased 1 today first was DOA replacement works fine.

It does come with a USB cable which is usb2 and usb3 compatible. Cable is 45cm in length.

Anyone still interested shelf price in HN is $149.99 scans up at $86.00 though.

  • Does anyone have a screenshot of the hard drive at $86 on the Harvey Norman website?
I want to try get it price matched, but need proof of the cost, but the price on their website has been changed.

  • It sounded too good for HN to have something cheap.

  • aldi have this on sale next week, is it 3.5" or 2.5"? http://www.aldi.com.au/au/html/offers/2827_17523.htm

    • 3.5"

  • Just in case anyone is confused the picture is incorrect in the catalogue.

The important part is the part number WDBACX7500ABK which is for the WD My Passport SE 750GB which is $86.

From personal experience this deal is legit well atleast at 3pm april 6th.

  • the online listed price at HN has changed too. so was it a mistake?

    • No mistake. Went to HN Martin Place and bought one. They had it advertised in the store as well - marked down from $149 (the ad wasn't there yesterday though). I can confirm it is 2.5" and it comes with USB 3 cable, there were plenty left in the store.

      • so im guessing they changed the online price to avoid price matching

        • You can price match if you can find any stock at Officework using the Catalogue that I linked above. But as far as I know there ain't any stock available (at least in Victoria), you might be lucky like some people here and pre-order it just to save an extra $4.

  • I went to my Harvey Norman store yesterday (Thursday), and they were still scanning up as $86 but wasn't advertised.
DSE would price match, but not beat it as they said it is already below cost.
Good Guys had it advertised in store for $86 but were sold out.
Officeworks were sold out at my store, the guy checked and there are still 19 left in Victoria as of last night.
    JBHIFI wouldn't go below $127.

So, they are still around if you want to pick up this great deal :)

  • Very happy with the purchase. I tested out the speed and it is sitting around 110mb/sec read and write. My usb 2 drive is limited to about 22mb/sec. My internal sataII Samsung F3 spinpoint is around 150mb/sec and my Vertex 3 120G is at 585mb/sec.
