Good method, but the average ozbargainer is too stupid to invent a time machine. This method will help overcome that problem:

        1. Go to the Swiss Bank and mysteriously find gold bricks in your name
        2. Take gold out and sell for profit
        3. With some of the money from the gold bricks, hire scientists to build a time machine for you
        4. Apply for 128Mb flash drive in 2011
        5. Put in Time machine
        6. Send it back along with yourself to 1989
        7. Auction it on the market
        8. Trade money for gold bricks
        9. Deposit gold bricks in a Swiss Bank under your name
        10. Come back to the present

          Catch 22?

        • +7

I see what you did there -_-

        • I would not describe ozbargainer too stupid but financially challenged.

        • +1

Get off ya high horse people, i've seen you all jump at the oppotunity to get a free sample of shampoo or watever, dont give me the sending out details BS and stop trying to sound like educated geeks.

    • +1

People aren't giving YOU any BS, and who says people here aren't educated?

  • I wonder what are the read & write speeds are? @deeps can you do a speed test & post back the results here. :p

    • That's something nobody seems to have brought up. There is some chance it's USB1.1, which means s.l.o.w.

      • +3

slow is no issue for what I want it for.

  • -2

awesome…. maybe they'll throw in a tape drive from a broken ass commodore 64, and a 14" monitor too!

i got no problem with freebies folks, but this is useless crap to most people and is not a bargain.
this is ozbargain, not useless junk for free dot com.

    • But a 5ml sample of shampoo in a satchet is fine right?

    • +2

It isn't useless. I have been looking for a small capacity USB Drive for quite some time now and haven't found anywhere I can buy one. This is perfect for me.

  • Dont complain, its free … and I found these spare small size usb stick very uselful to bring my photos along for printing, way more than enough to hold over 100 photos … Thank you very much !!!

  • +4

If it's free cat food, ozbargin would jump on it. I know last time this happened my cat loved the free food!
So +ve for this. It's almost like signing up for a free piece of plastic and metal but at least the sum of its parts is more useful…

  • +2

If I plugged this into my PC, it'll pop up 'Get this sh!t out of my house'.

  • -4

useless doesn't come close to describing this 'bargain'….

    • +2

      can be used for
      Storing photos
      Transferring data

      • +5

….preventing paper from blowing away, picking crud out of your belly button….

  • -2

This is such a funny thread… a friend of mine sent this to me for the lolz

LOL esp @ 'free sample of shampoo offer' comment by Dr.Tenma… it's funny because it's true.

  • +2

Thanks, but I'll pass and let someone else have the opportunity :)
A few years ago when I was too cheap to buy a USB key I would've jumped on this (although, a few years ago I did get that free 1GB UBank USB Key). I think it's a little rude for people saying it's useless. If just transferring school/uni files (or even photos for printing as has been mentioned), this is more than ample. Not everyone needs to transfer around movies, music or even ISOs…

    • +2

Well I wouldn't call it useless, but I'm not sure I want to give an address to receive ads that are a waste of paper and postage on me. Besides, I'm alright for flash sticks. So I am in fact helping you needy folks by abstaining. ;)

      • +1

exactly right…. this is what I did, abstained :). Still, cant believe over 50 people voted positive on this one.

  • It doesnt work? Just tried the web page and coming with an error.

    • +1

      too late buddy

  • well i ordered mine i noticed it did not say on the website the size, i would be somewhat annoyed if i expected at least a 4gb or something and got that, oh well a lesson in dealing with this company i guess

  • +1

It is free and it could be useful anyway… For example, if you own a router with a USB port and have DD-WRT or OpenWRT firmware running on it, you could use the flash drive for the root filesystem.

    • -1

or you could spend $3 and get a few gigs (like a real bargain posted recently) :).

      • Yeah, I suppose. A few GB would be overkill though for router firmware and any additional packages/software you install. Only reason you'd need more room is if you wanted to use the router as a file server and/or a seedbox, in which case it'd usually make more sense to use an external HDD.

      • I actually need a small drive because I have something which will not support anything above 256MB, Sure you could use something bigger on it but it is very likely to corrupt files and stop working (according to others who have tried).

        • +1

I suspect you could write the partition table so that it only uses the first 256MB of the memory, thus the OS will never access beyond 256MB.

        • +1

You know, I never thought of that.

  • -6

error 404 page not found, must have relaised it was up on this site and took it down

  • I just got this email…

"Thank you for subscribing to our newsletter. We have been overwhelmed with the number of subscriptions received, although you are in the first 1000 subscribers and will be receiving your free USB stick soon."

    • +1

lol, i don't know if i am in it or not, i used a random email ;)

      • +1

I submitted three just for fun. Hope they send it so I can store more of my plant power. :P

        • Thats the Broden coming out in you!

        • -1

          I shudder to think of

          The Broden coming in you

LOL..who's gonna read this except the OP

Can I write bullshit and hope no one notices like FotherMucker

I hope no one replies and notices what I wrote..I dunno this is some sort of blog entry. I'm gonna do this with every post on it's 30th day so Mine would be the last comment ever. Hehe

Ok Now it's just weird..me talking to myself. It's like I'm in a cave and hearing my own voice. But I feel so free, probably gonna regret this a month later but what the heck.

        • you ok there spawnpoint? or are you just upset because somebody's been camping you?

        • i'm still reading this

    • Bah.. I just got one saying

"We have run out of USB keys but would like to offer you $15 off your next purchase"

Was going to use it for a USB Hiren's boot (albeit an older version as even that has outgrown 128mb)

In case anyone actually wants to buy something, the rest of the email is

"Simply enter the code: 15BUX11APR @ the checkout. Offer expires Friday 29th April 2011"

      • I got this email too.
The rep has posted the 15BUX11APR deal now.

      • Got the same email as well.

        • I got the same email too. I wonder if anyone is going to get this so called usb stick

      • Not a good practice.

        • It seems the coupon was not working @check out.

  • +3

Just got my usb today! It came with a crap load of brochures and stuff on it, but a quick format fixed all that!
    It is actually really sturdy!

    • +6

Same here. Arrived in PO BOX just today. Has some 64mb advertisment on the drive but you can clear it by formating. The dirve size is 121MB and is USB2.0. So a good freebie overall.

PS. The letter that came along with the USB had an unstamped stamp on it. So another 60cent stamp freebie. :)

  • +1

    yes!

    you are gonna receive it(hopefully)
