Currently Harvey Norman has a sale on the latest Samsung phones and $200 EFTPOS card offer.

  • Samsung 128GB

At these prices, I think they're pretty good right now if you look at the current/expired deals. JB Hi-Fi 128GB deal was better but you have less freedom with the gift card.

    When’s the note 10 out

    • +1

      August 2019

      • Wait til 2022 when it will be cheaper

        • It seems to need to be 2 generations behind before prices drop on a Samsung flagship :(

So you're not far off. It's against my religion to spend over $1000 on a phone.

          • @Click_It: 2500 will be the new norm for entry level. 1500 is going to be the price for a flagship 2 gen old

  • Using split Amex payments would make you ineligible for smartphone screen insurance I suppose?

    • You're still covered if you make the monthly BYO plan payments on the amex.

      • I sent an email to Chubb asking them T&C about BYO but never got reply from them.

You aware of any restrictions on BYO? I know it must be 12months or more, but what if you start using Amex mid term of the contract?

        thanks

Direct from the terms and conditions:

Activation of Smartphone Screen Cover (Section O):

Cover is effective for each Smartphone when You pay the total cost of a:
          • Smartphone outright in a single transaction, or
          • a Smartphone on a monthly contract, or
          • a minimum 12-month ‘SIM Only’ contract using:

          (a) Your American Express Platinum Card; or
          (b) American Express Membership Rewards points.

Important: Where the Smartphone monthly contract or SIM Only plan
commences with an alternative payment method before You switch to
making your monthly payment with Your American Express Platinum
Card, cover will commence thirty (30) days after the date of the first
monthly payment on Your American Express Platinum Card.

          • @VlVh: Exactly what I need, thanks heaps

  • I'm salty I missed this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/397342

  • So tempting to pull the trigger

  • Will Hardly NORMAL negotiate a bit on price? Has anyone managed to do it? $1,500 for 512GB will be a goodt price from HN. Gift card and Amex deal will make it great.

    • Tried negotiating down to $1500 didn't work out for me today

Thanks for posting the deal OP, Went in and got it today

    • How much did you end up paying?

      • I paid $1598 to buy outright. I got the 512GB version and the internal processor was the Samsung exynos one. Not the snapdragon version.
