Camera is fine for me. You can touch on the screen to manually focus if needed.

      Best phone ever.

Was one of your fingers over the lens the whole time 🤣😂

    • Did you ignore the clean the lens to take better photos message?

There was some issue early on with camera becoming loose, but I never experienced that.

    • This was actually a common problem where the camera wouldn't focus. The solution is to lightly tap it against your hand or lightly shake it.

    fantastic price,

to me the s8/s8+ are virtually perfect,

obviously the newer models have slightly better specs,

great phone, loving it since 1.5 years, hope it gets Pie soon with One UI.

  • Can give a tough fight for iPhone 8.

I was looking at this earlier. Can anyone hazard a guess as to whether this is likely to get cheaper in after Christmas/ new year sales?

    Ebay Checkout error, doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Works perfectly for me. Did you use PTGGS20?

      • I can't check out. I tried to pay with Mastercard or paypal, it just says checkout error. Weird as I also bought a Pixel 2 XL from mobileciti and that works.

        • Woah thats weird

          • @vishalpandi97: When did you buy it buddy? I tried from 7pm to now, simply doesnt work :(

            • @darkyjaz95: I try and can apply the code. It showed $635.66 (including $5.26 postage)

I did not process though. Still want Note 9.

Anyone use S8 and comment about the photo and video?

            • @darkyjaz95: Just purchased about 2 hours ago using my master card including voucher with PayPal and just picked it up 5 min ago from good guys.

              Thank U OP

              • @Mrbean007: I used mastercard linked with paypal, doesn't work. It seems it only works with funds in paypal or Amex.

                • @darkyjaz95: That's weird worked for me Westpac MasterCard no funds in PayPal straight from bank.

        • +1

Tried too & did not work. Seems you need proper PayPal to use code, Visa & Mastercard payment does not accpt code. Bad luck GG, you just lost my purchase.

          • @[Deactivated]: I bought it at full price this morning and had TGG refund my money to my paypal account, and I bought it again using my paypal fund with the discount code just now.

  • Better off with a 128Gb oneplus 6 for $605 on eBay

    • Picked up the Oneplus 6T 128gb 8g ram for $695 using the plasma 10% code. The only issue will be being a Grey import with warranty but have never had an issue with a phone before so fingers crossed.

      • Can you PM me the seller

  • Dont want to spend too much ….After I drowned my pocophone

Would everyone recommend this over the mid ranged Chinese makes like xiaomi or huawei or oppo like?

    This will outperform ?

  • FYI the GG ebay code PTGGS20 does not work with Visa or Mastercard via PayPal payment, must have proper PayPal.

I tried buying the Nova 3e yesterday and this S8 now but said "coupon code cannot be addd ith this payment type". Can buy with CC but at full rice - no code!

Thanks GG and PP - you just saved me $1000. Sweet!

    • I used Amex yesterday without problem (bought Dyson hair dryer)

I got the S7 from the good guys last year for $500, i feel this is still overpriced.

      • +1

Yah, well if a new smartphone release is every 12 months for a very similar price, stands to reason that the s8 would be $500-ish this year.

The S8 costs about $40 more to produce, and it has 32 gb more storage, so $20 ontop = $560

    Thanks OP.

As luck would have it I got an s8 from JB yesterday and paid $788 :(

Thank the JB gods for change of mind returns.

    • +2

They charged you $788 for a 2 years old device? Should have bought pixel 2 XL…

      • +1

Pixel 2 is a year old and s8 is 18 mths. S8 has better screen and wireless charging.

for $600 nice hardware and great deal ….but updates are the issue if you want pie.

The hardware is fine, the problem is the "replace very 2 years as no more updates" mindset / expectation Google has created as the "norm"

Apple will update 5 year old phones as the hardware can still cope, Google were hoping to get longer update intervals with Android One and importantly "TREBLE" so android could have longer update intervals before phones go end of life…… not quite working for them, and they make money from tracking user data, manufactuers make money from selling new phones.

No hardware reason why Android can't have a 5 year life span on a hardware platform from a technical perspective , only commercial perspective.

Seems the EU is trying to get Google to unbundle search and chrome due to market powers …. android now says if they can't add search and chrome and collect / track user data it will add $40 to the cost of each handset as they will need to change the licensing.

I'm nor sure if the cost of me being on Android is that cheap as I replace handsets every 2 years to stay on latest Android vs buy Iphone and keep for 5 years.

Battery replacement on a sealed phone is under $100 vs new phone for $600-$700 every 2 years.
