    • It is. Nikkor 50mm F1.8G

    • Wow they finally brought it back after 3 years! Pity I already purchased mine a few months ago for about $170

  • I bought this lens for 135AUD last year on Black Friday from Amazon US. Nowadays we can’t, cost too much for import fee.

    Great lens!

I bought this from Amazon during BF for $161 (after CR) and am loving it.

Only downside is that because it's a FX lens (full frame), you gotta use it like a 75mm in crop sensors (I am too poor to afford full frame; using the D3400 right now).

Otherwise, the bokeh on this thing is amazing!

Next thing to get on my list — either the D750 or the D810 (can't afford the D850 LOL)

    • I recommend checking out a used d800. Best value. Got one around a year ago for 1400. Probably less now.

      D600 or D610 used is like $800…

      • D200 for $200

        • Well if you want FX… D600 or D610 gives you the bang of the buck? If you're focused on creating image quality, surely D610 is up there with D750 or pretty close? It lacks some advanced features from video capabilities to quick fps burst mode, but it depends on what you intend to make with the camera I suppose. D200 is a poor comparison because the sensor is far inferior to what most people need today.

          • @Hamlet: Do I have tag my post as a sarcasm?

On a bright sunny day, D200 sensor is still a very good sensor. And at night it's pretty poor.

            • @klownvandamn: You could, yeah sure. But to my defense, I was just trying to giving genuine recommendation for someone who's too money poor to afford a new FF model. Take it however you wish to.

Great lens. I personally found the 50mm too close for portrait taking and ended up swapping it for the 35mm.

Portraits are better taken with slightly higher focal lengths ie. 50/85 mm. You need to stand further back.

      • I do agree with your theory, the theory that resulted in two guys choosing to buy the 50mm and after actually using it agree it’s too close for portrait taking.

Would be okay for corporate headshots, perhaps, if you have a large enough space.

      • Both produce pretty amazing photos to be honest.

I use my prime lens primarily indoors for natural shots e.g. parties, of my kids/pets - can't stand further back when there are walls/objects in the way.

  • Bought last night… hopefully Amazons Guaranteed delivery by Friday happens

  • Can anyone confirm if Nikon will honour the cashback when bought from Amazon? They aren't listed as an authorised reseller on the Nikon website
