  • I hope more AAA games like this one goes on sale.

I'm gonna wait for the boxing day sales incase the physical copy version goes on sale, mainly since i don't have a microsd for my switch yet (looking for a 256gb on sale)

Same here, I prefer physical copies of Game for the collection.

Hoping Amazon AU price matches with the physical copy, but I doubt it.

Also here a Samsung EVO Plus 256GB MicroSD Card for $73.20 Delivered

      AAA?

      Maybe. It reviewed somewhat poorly.

Ok I'll bite on your troll bait. AAA is an indication of how much bankrolling goes into development and advertising and it doesn't get much bigger than Square Enix.
Also, this game is currently sitting at an 83 on metacritic and while that is no BotW/Shovel Knight numbers that is pretty good. Also they sold out the first printing within a week which suggests they did a lot better than Square Enix thought they would.
This is the switch's chrono trigger/secret of mana. drops mike

just because mike dropped you, doesn't mean you have to drop mike…..

Already brought the physical copy at full price and finished the game 2 weeks agi. Loved it and worth it

    • have you played botw? do you think ill enjoy this game if i thoroughly enjoyed botw?

      • +1

Has a very different gameplay and art style. My recommendation is to try the demo that allows you to play 3 hours. See if the game clicks with you. If you like it and end up getting the full game, your 3 hours of progress gets transfered over.

JRPG is not for everyone so really depends. Good luck

      • I bought a switch a couple of weeks ago. BOTW and Octopath were my first two games. They are both awesome, but very different. I'm not really a JRPG fan but I have to say I absolutely love Octopath. The story and detail is incredible. Zelda is better but when I get stuck I fire up Octopath for a break.

I find myself spending a day or two on each whilst I'm hooked, getting stuck and switching to the other. Repeat.

When do JB HiFi have an EShop Card sale? That would interest me greatly….

    • +3

Boxing day, 10% off, is what I've seen mentioned by CheapGit here in OzBargain and also a user on Whirlpool.

      • Ooh interesting. I think I might hold off til then as well!

      • I couldn't find CheapGit's deal you mentioned. Do you have a link?

    • I bought $250 worth of JB hi-fi vouchers from that 10% off eBay UK loop hole deal earlier in the week. I'll be using them to buy the eshop vouchers if and when they go on sale (fingers crossed). I'm not good at maths that stack discounts but that's a decent chunk off if they do 10% on top of my discounted store credit.

      • Not sure if you'll be able to buy gift cards with gift cards.. but hopefully they let you!

        • I bought a $60 eshop card with one of the digital JB hi-fi cards I got from eBay uk on Friday so it's all good. I have set up alerts now for these UK eBay card things just to reduce the price of eshop cards, lol. I figure physical games can always be sourced cheaper and resold over time but an eshop purchase being digital is "dead" money so I keep my eyes peeled on here for JB hi-fi or Woolworths gift card discounts so I can purchase eshop cards or PlayStation cards.

        • I've managed to buy google play cards with discounted jb gift cards before

        • I've tried and failed before, so YMMV

How does this compare to Xenoblade Chronicles 2? Currently playing that game and loving it

    • They have a demo that lasts 3 hours if you wanna give it a shot.

      • Might give that a shot then. Although, just been reading up on it and it does seem like it can become grindy and slow late game.

        • The only slow part for me was doing the extra boss as that required grinding, otherwise didn't need to grind at any stage

    • +1

They're quite different games. Xenoblade is a more modern action JRPG, while Octopath Traveller is a modern homage to 16-bit JRPG's, complete with "modern" pixel art style.
If you liked SNES era turn based JRPG's then you'll like Octopath Traveller.

  • Tried to like this game but it felt too grindey for me and random encounters become a little boring.

  • Thanks OP, this game is awesome. Nostalgia…

  • +1

Was not a fan of this game, too grindy

  • Great game loved it. Over 40 hours in

  • Switch games are such a rip
