Text on Sony AF8 Vs LG C8 or Panasonic FZ950

I visited TGG and Binglee to check on some OLED displays. Since I jumped on the EBGames offer on AF8, I just wanted to make sure that I made a right decision before I open the package. To my surprise, the picture quality & colours on LG and Panasonic looked way better than Sony for me. I could clearly see the texts "Sony" & "4K HDR" very serrated and non smooth where as text is so smooth and crisp on LG and Panasonic. I thought it could be a bad clip being played on Sonly and visited another store: but same story.

All the experts and reviewers treat Sony and LG at same level of quality. How come? Has no one noticed something this obvious? Or Am I being paranoid?

Since all use the same Display panel, I believe it is their processor and operating system that causes this. Since it is a pre-rendered text on a video, I think Sony's image processor does something extra to make it crisp and screws it up.

Can someone who already owns a A1 or A8 share their experience?

Text is not primary element for determining TV image quality.

    • I read subtitles when watching Ludacris rap. I need that subtitles fast and crisp.

  • You're looking at the knockoff Sonly. Sony is much better.

I like the C8 better anyway.

  • I was about to jump on that deal too.
Luckily I visited HN store where I saw the same differenece. I asked sales rep and he told me that Panasonic image quality are much superior than Sony! Hence hollywood use panasonic for movie editing!
