LG 65" OLED B8 $2994 ($2400 with 4x AmEx Offer) @ Domayne

321

Managed to pick up the LG 65" B8 OLED for $2400 from Domayne Gosford today. I paid across 4 AmEx cards to take advantage of the Domayne $150 of $750 spend.

Cheapest I've seen for a 65" B8! 4 left at Gosford, also some at Warrawong and it's available for delivery. You'll need to spend an extra $6 to get the 4th AmEx offer. Can also purchase gift cards from Domayne which can be used at Harvey Norman (see comments on AmEx Statement Credits deal)

Not for a true OzBargainer ;)

Time for you to explore supplementary cards!

    • +4

Easy. I have many times that many cards.

Not a deal as it is unusual for most to have access to 4 amex cards

        • +1

I did exactly this for a Microsoft surface book 2.. 2x cards from me and my partner.. 2x cards from a friend and his partner.. ;)

A fault on ALL 2018 LG OLED’s has been discovered.

They have near black flashing issues.

    Latest video from HDTVTEST https://youtu.be/KjObx--Oq8g

    • Nice, possible a use for my X amount of saved offers

Log warranty next year, hopefully get the 2019 model replacement if all the batch has this issue

Seems someone has a vendetta against these. As an owner of one, IMO, these are the best screens since the VT60 & F8500 plasmas.

      • +2

How is it a vendetta? It's a proven issue. Now its up to LG to issue a firmware update to correct it. I don't understand why people take it personally just because they bought one. It's just a TV. If the issue doesnt bother you then it's nothing to worry about.

        • I think this is actually a long standing issue with the LG panels and they aren't in a hurry to fix it.

Thanks msjb. I just spent some time watching 2 different B8 65" models at two separate retailers. I believe I observed the chroma overshoot issue on both. I was just doing some research to see if it's an issue when I noticed your post. Totally unacceptable. Mind you, one of the units was significantly worse than the other.
This issue was visible on the inbuilt 4K demo content, so it was not the result of HDMI sync or external player.

        Just reporting the truth.

I just don’t understand helping my fellow consumer would be a vandetta?

What the F is wrong with people?

        • +4

I agree. Just like that reviewer. He reports the issue or tests reported issues and suggest possible solutions to mitigate it.

Where is the vendetta in that? He is not bagging the model nor the brand.

If you ask me. Thats a win for the consumers. Also the manufacturer who gets another avenue to get their products critiqued so that it can be further be improved.

People reporting issues with your choice of product are not out to get you. If you think that. Sorry. I think it is time to give yourself a long hard look.

          • @xoom: I haven't seen the issue yet on my panel but I'll be looking out for it. Hopefully like the dimming issue now this guy has brought it to light they do a firmware fix

If you watched the video you'd realize that this is a minor flaw and hard to replicate. Most people would not notice it at full speed and it can be mitigated somewhat with calibration.

It is a flaw yes, but are you going to notice it every time you watch a movie? Not at all.

      • Well to be honest all three (Lg sony and panasonic) all do.

Do I think these are deal breakers. Not at all.

I am sure which ever one goes with they will enjoy it for many years to come.

If these tv's are anything that my current tv is being replaced by surviving 10yrs.

Then there will be plenty of enjoyment that will be had with them.

    • The issue is so minor, I doubt many would be deterred considering all the other strengths of the TV and great pricing. Thanks for pointing that out though.

Nah come on, this is more targeted than the last deal I had a go at for being heavily dependent on Amex offer..

  • 55 inc B8 for $1699 good guys if you want a smaller and cheaper version

    • +1

Or price match domain with 2 X Amex offers for $300 off

  • Someone post it with 1,2,3,5… cards as well pls?

    • +4

Well you can't really do 5 cards since the 150 off is for every 750 unless you buy say a sound bar and/or bluray player with it to get you the $3750 so that you can get 750 off.

The op already had to pad their purchase by $6 to get to use 4 amex cards.

So if the aim is to get this tv as cheap as you can. 4 amex cards is optimum.

You can buy the C8 65" for $2,999 here:

    • Great opportunity for a price match!

      • I doubt I could get HN/JB Hifi to price match a QLD only retailer in Melbourne! They'll call my bluff even with that free shipping.

Someone should try it on the Domayne AMEX deal though.

  • There doesn’t seem to be a massive difference between the c8 and b8 tho. I have more than 4 Amex cards so I could do this deal

  • I am in Melbourne. I have registered for 2 AmEx cards to take advantage of the Domayne $150 of $750 spend. I want to buy this TV online. I think it does not allow partial payments (e.g. $1500 on each card). How can I pay across the 2 AmEx cards?

    • Online purchase is limited to a single card. I'm in SA, and bought today using 3 cards by calling their ACT store.

    • Your other option (besides a phone-call for split payments) is to purchase gift cards and use them at either Domayne or Harvey Norman. See the comments in this post for further details - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/428402

  • Anyone bought a tv at domayne using Amex in store in Sydney?

Thinking of buying another TV from Castle Hill and split it over multiple cards but unsure which stores are strictly domayne and which are Harvey @domayne as they don't qualify on the cashback
