PI is a scam. Stick with Medicare.

Sure, if you want to die.

        Absolute garbage. This isn't 'mUrIcA

      • You wont die, because if you have a life threatening condition you will be treated in a timely fashion. If on the other hand you need non urgent treatment like joint replacement you will wait.

  • You dont need to get it, but there is some advantages to having it. This issue has been posted before and thrashed to death, you can search for previous posts.

    • What about just the ambulance cover?

Definitely get that. Under $100 a year.

I am nearly 47 and have never needed an ambulance. If your healthy you probably don't need ambulance cover. A ambulance costs about $900 in my state, and $55/year for single cover. If I needed an ambulance at work or in a car accident that would be covered by workers comp, 3rd party personal liabilty insurance.

I have ambulance cover as part of my hospital insurance, but I wouldn't take it out other wise.

In some states ambulances are free so you wouldn't need it in those states.

  • Choose a not for profit fund not a fund like bupa or medibank. Premiums will be lower and you will get more benefits. I prefer hospital only rather than extras, as do not think it is value for money. But this is a personal preference.
Have a look at this government website and will show you what available. Don't just focus on premium, but what's included. Also if add excess will save on premium. Also pay annual will normally have saving.

    • How is medibank a 'not for profit' ? It's listed on the stock market and has shareholders. It is definitely for profit.

      • Please read my comment. I said these these were NOT. And to choose a not for profit fund.

The use of double negatives and no punctuation may cause confusion.

  • I had to wait 4 days in my private room at RPA hospital for a 30 min operation, infected cyst removal in my armpit. I still wouldn't get private hospital cover, it's the first time so far in my 33 years of life that I needed to go to the hospital.
