What’s $5 compared to a month of Kayo Basic? Pretty much nothing

    It's $20, not nothing…

  • -7

Not worth $5 in its current form.

    • +3

May I ask why? I'm quite enjoying Kayo atm.

      • Have you been watching the cricket?

        • +3

Yeah. Also have been enjoying the Football.

          • +3

@smogg: Ok well obviously I can only speak for my own experience then but I've had nothing but constant buffering from every device I've connected to the tv, chromecast, mibox (known lag issues), laptop over HDMI. Nothing, can stream it perfectly from other sources but not from Kayo.

            • +2

@nuts: What is your internet speed?
That is very strange… I would say it is some sort of issue from your end as mine works perfectly fine and lot of my friends use it fine.

              • @smogg: Are you Chromecasting? I can live stream and cast from a myriad of other platforms and not have a problem so no, this is a Kayo issue whether it impacts you personally or not.

            • @nuts: Problem is very likely on your end then. While it was pretty terrible during the first month its been flawless for me since mid December, the same applies to all my mates who have dropped Foxtel for it. I've using it on a Chromecast Ultra and Chromecast Gen 2

            • +1

@nuts: Same issue here with Chromecast, Android TV, etc.

Ended up connecting computer up directly to TV and it works a little better though.

          • @smogg:

Yeah. Also have been enjoying the Football.

Eh? Football doesn’t start till March. :)

            @smogg:

Yeah. Also have been enjoying the Football.

The season doesn't start until April…

Hopefully they'll have some good offers around then…

            • @jv: Don’t be small minded JV. This isn’t the only country who calls their sport football.

    • +2

Sorry to hear you are having problems. It has been really good for us. Pretty much stays on Kayo instead on free-to-air. We tend to just leave the tv on in the background. Just upgraded to a Chromecast Ultra and it's even better. We've been watching the cricket, NBA, NFL and various other sports/docos.

      • Chromecasting from what device out of interest?

        • Kayo only support chromecast ultra so maybe thats your problem

          • @universe: Nope. Not my problem.

          • @universe: May not support Chromecast 2 but it does/did work for us. Only 720p maybe 30fps?? but it was still very watchable.

        • Nexus 7 2013. Still going strong. Touch wood. Don't know what we will go to when our two stop going.

          • @ozbs25: Nice, maybe it’s an iPhone to Chromecast problem then but don’t have any issues with other platforms. Oh well, they’ll either fix it or they won’t.

            • @nuts: I've tried chromecasting from my phone. It is fine although the quality is not as good as chromecasting from my PC.
              What model is your Chromecast?

  • +4

I've had audio out of sync issues when casting from my phone to the mi box. Wish they would hurry up and release the android tv app.

    • +1

      Same on my sony tv….

    • The biggest issue for me is when casting to a legit Chromecast it will play smooth enough for about 25 mins and then when the service gets crowded (I’m assuming) will stop and buffer every 5-10 seconds.

When I cast to the mi box the picture runs smooth but it’s out of sync. That’s definitely a Kayo issue, not a me issue. And if they don’t fix it before AFL season then I’d hope they’re ready to refund a lot of people all their money.

      • Have you tried chromecasting anything else at 60FPS (which is what Kayo streams at) to verify that it’s not just hardware limitations? And what TV(s) are you using for the Chromecast and/or Mi Box (if they’re different TVs)?

I’m assuming you’re also on the latest software on the Mi Box?

        • Hey, thanks for the response. I’ve tried every combination of things at my disposal however ozbargain is telling me that I’m wrong so maybe I am. I’m told there’s an Android tv app dropping soon so I’ll try that when it does.

      • I actually had the same issue if I cast from Kayo app to Chromecast , however if I screen mirror my phone to Chrome and play the issue gone away. May be try that

    • Same issue on the foxtel now box. Very annoying!

      • Try screen mirroring the phone directly , it played with out any hiccups for me

        • Correct me if I'm wrong but if I mirror my phone to Chromecast (for anything) I have to have the screen on and running. Which obviously is a huge battery drain.

Surely Foxtel needs to fix the issues rather than us trying to work around it?

  • I like the service in the sense of the content that it offers. But the Web app sucks (convoluted as all hell, laggy, lacks basic quality of life features) and still no Smart Tv app.

    • -4

and still no Smart Tv app.

Telstra TV is supposed to support it… Will test it when the footy starts.

      • +1

Yes, but as I said, no Smart TV app.

  • I've found Kayo good and i would pay 5 a month for it i just cancelled my trial because im hoping to get the e-mail that you are talking about.

I dont mind watching the HAL and a bit of NAB if they put the AFL season on too it is worth a $5 a month fee

If i get the e-mail now i've cancelled ill sign up if not ill just stick to my optus sports

    • Is is $5 per month? Or is it $5 for ONE month?

I would pay $5 per month for my motorsports (hell, I'd pay up to $15), but if it's only one month then go back to $25 I'm too stingy :)

      • Yeah i didnt realise it was just one month

Probably best to have multiple accounts to take advantage of all these cheap months?

  • +1

Still waiting for the android tv option so I can stop casting. Casting works pretty well to be fair but drops out here and there

  • +2

I'm loving it. Everything I've ever wanted. No glitches or buffering. HD sports on my 65" Hisense for $25 without any set top boxes, extra remotes or filler channels. The future is now!

    • Is there a TV app for Kayo on the Hisense?

      • +2

Kayo has planned Smart TV apps for early 2019. However they're starting off with LG and Samsung.

  • +1

Just a note that u can watch on full screen on xbox one through the edge browser.

    • Check the output resolution, was at a mate’s place who uses his Xbox One for it as well and we couldn’t get the output resolution to be over 720P even though the actual resolution of the Kayo stream was 1080P and the output resolution of the Xbox was 4K (hopefully that made sense..)

  • Good stuff! Combined with the amex deal makes it two months for $15.

  • +2

I dropped cos I'd constantly get errors using Google Chrome. Also telstra tv app is useless, constantly out of sync.

  • I am looking for someone to share a Kayo account with? Happy to half the cost if someone has an existing account they are willing to split?

    • Hmu

      • if you are still interested in sharing a Kayo sport account. Message me and let me know.

We can just split it and pay $12.50 per month

  • Cheers!
