        Doubt it

      • +3

No. It has too much magnification for the light gathering ability and flimsy tripod.
This means everything will be very shaky when you look through it, and things you might wish to see 500 times bigger are too dim to view.

It is too powerful and will display images upside down for use in daylight, and except for looking at the moon, will be hopeless at night.

        This will disappoint.
Edit, I see it does include an erecting mirror so it might be useful in daylight for looking at things a kilometre or more away.

Useful for looking at people sunbathing on the beach from your holiday house.

          • @jv: OzBargainers don't own holiday houses

    I can imagine the quality

Now imagine it with better quality and you’ll save yourself $19.95.

At 525x the silhouettes of dust on the objective lens should be clear and interesting, so there's that.

  • It would seem the "$39.95" for this discontinued line was in 2012.

It seems to be both GOOD and BAD

  • Seems like it'd be ok for looking at the Moon perhaps

  • This is great fun for kids to play. Make sure you don't look at the sun with it.

My kids found their cheap telescope so frustrating that they never used it.
