  • You could definitely get something better for the same price from Dealextreme. Very, very average tablet and would struggle to do anything under Android. Also really old version. Spend $50 and get something semi-decent.

  • Pioneer ePad 7"

  • as an android user i will say that although this is a good deal money wise its a shitty product

    in the end it will leave you with a bad impression of android because of two reasons;
    - not compatible with android 2.2 which is over a year old now and 2.3 is even out
    - 7inch is the same as the galaxy tab and honestly 7inch is too small, 10inch is the ideal size for a tab

like 80% of the applications made for android need a minimum of 2.1 (which this tablet can be upgraded to) but most if not all of the new cool applications made for tablets will need 2.2 at bare minimum or 2.3

    just my 2c

    • I have no doubts that this deal's hardware sux, but I don't think I can agree that "7 inch is way too small"

How many pre-tablet mobiles are using Android, presumably happily… or am I missing something here?

I note the epad shows the movie Rio.

as this has just been released I would say that the pic is either doctored or they are demonstrating movie piracy.

    very average tablet.

I would rather spend the extra $40 and get a ZT-180 from aliexpress

  • This is a horrible product. I've used a very similar product.

With that CPU there is nothing you can do to fix it either.

Crap of the Day. Enough said. You know it's going to be crap.

  • If you have used capacitive touch screen (iPhone/iPad, etc) before, you will find that this touch screen is NOT very responsive.

    • There are good and bad resistive touch screens.

Nokia's older generation of Xpressmusic and X series smartphones had fairly decent touch screens, and they were resistive.

These fake china phones and tablet devices are obviously made with cheaper materials hence the crappy touch sensitivity.

  • Cheap? Yes.
    Ill-designed, low-quality crap? Yes.

  • +8 to all the neg comments above.

Seriously if you want a cheap ebook reader head on to Officeworks and get yourself an $83 Stash ebook reader.

If you decide that you don't like it you can always return it… unlike COTD.

    • I was thinking of testing a China-cheapo…

but - coming to my senses (before wasting my $$$) - I got a scratched (case only) ASUS eee PC at DSE.

(Yeah, these guys seem to sell quite a bit of "repaired, damaged, refurbished" good stuff, sometimes at nearly their normal prices… I've seen higher-end ASUS eee PC's (one had been repaird; the other didn't even boot Windows, as it sat on-display), dual-SIM Hauwei mobiles, and - more recently, a Brother HL-2170W… & this eee' almost all of them offered at new prices; exceptions: $10 off the Hauwei dual-SIM mobile; & ~$100 off the lower-end ASUS eee PC.

The latter ASUS has been fine… but not (yet) running Android…

Didn't I read somewhere, that Android is being ported to generic PC hardware "any day now"…? :-)

  • Your money would be better spent elsewhere on a better product from a more reliable retailer.

  • its almost gone now. LOL

I take it you may be referring to "grey" importers…?

      If so:

If it weren't for "grey" market imports, we'd all be paying HEAPS MORE for our electronic toys.

I think it's Grey8 to see low prices from on-shore "grey" importers, 'cause the rest of them have more inventive to push their suppliers to offer lower prices, & hopefully, pass some savings through to us.

      If not… nevermind. ;-)

  • This is about the price for these tablets elsewhere, and as can be seen from internet reviews and form posts, and posts above etc this is very likely to be a very bad product. Money is better spent elsewhere.

Maybe they could re-badge this product as a vacuum cleaner…because it just plain sucks!

  • get optus my tab……… 512 meg ram , 3gig data for 3 months……. better resistive (cnet mentioned its 2nd version)

    • There's a 2nd version?
