Recommend Some Solid Solar Path Lights (Bunnings)

Bunnings is having a clearance sale and my front yard still needs some lighting.

Previous solar lights did not last long and the placement does get some light so I am thinking bad quality lights.

Fwiw that are also bug zapper lights but yeah they didn't last long.

So I come across a news article of all places that Bunnings is having a huge clearance sale including stuff like $9.95 step ladders and $20 foldable BBQ's etc very cheap stuff.

One of the huge clearance items are the solar path lights which I am fond of.

Like this https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-12-5cm-stainless-steel-min…

$1.48

And this https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-25cm-stainless-steel-solar…

$1

Both very cheap but i am wondering out of all the path lights which one is the most robust and trustworthy and reliable since I have had lots of bad experiences with solar lights not working at all after a few months and just straight up dying and becoming useless.

I ask this because I have bought some generic ones from ebay before also solar and rechargeable but they didn't seem to last more than a few days and now just have a bunch of landfill so if anybody can recommend some that are good quality or alternatively what are landfill quality I would like to know.

Cheers thanks

Here is a link to all the solar path lights and bollards available from bunnings.

So which solar path lights have served you well or are still serving you well rather I should say.

Thanks ozbargain.

I generally avoid Bunnings for anything solar, as the good ones are pricey, and the cheap ones don't work very well, either not very bright or don't last long as you have pointed out. Ikea sometimes have clearance on their solar lights, I bought some a few years ago, they are still working well in my garden. But you are not going to get good ones either way for $1 or thereabouts.

    • Yeah. The cheap ones use garden variety (heh, pardon the pun) rechargeable NiCd batteries which have poor longevity and performance. But if you want better Li-ion powered ones, you'd have to pay accordingly.

Personally, since they're outside, exposed to the elements and potential thieves, I don't mind buying and re-buying the cheap ones every few years. They often have sales of $5 for a box of 20 or so, which makes it trivial to replace.

      • Can link some good quality long-lasting ones

    • Can link the good quality ikea ones
