640

If you didn't already realise from this deal and previous years. Telstra customers can receive free streaming passes for the above Australian sports.

Download the corresponding app, turn on cellular, turn off wifi and log in to your Telstra account.

You'll receive an email stating that your Telstra Account has been linked to your chosen Live Pass.

I tested it on Pre-Paid with an active $30 recharge on Pre-Paid Max. It has previously worked for any activated $2 SIM.

AFL/AFLW/NRL/Netball 2018: All Telstra post-paid and pre-paid ($30+ active recharges) mobile customers are eligible. Only Suncorp Super Netball, Australian based test matches and Fast 5 World Series live. Data-free on the Telstra Mobile Network. Only available on compatible iOS and Android devices. Free NRL / AFL / A-League / Netball Live Pass for Boost Mobile Customers from Telstra

That was just a ‘hack’ of this deal. Although this is very widely known but still gets posted every year.

    Dupe

    • Care to back up your allegation?

  • +2

Imagine paying for AFLW on TV when it's free to attend….

    • +5

who can be bothered to go?>

      • or watch…I'm a big fan of womens sport and I've even coached women's professional basketball - but AFLW is just not good.

  • +3

Title should prob be "… for Telstra Mobile Customers".

  • Used to include NBL :(

  • Can you purchase the sim / recharge, log into the account, and then swap the sim out and continue being able to watch (just on wifi or whatever)? Or do you actually need the specific telstra simcard in the phone whenever you want to use that feature?

    • +2

Previous years you could swap out. Assume it's the same this time m

    • Conditions state 'you must maintain a $30+ recharge'

      • That wasn't the case last year.

  • So how do I get friend to activate it on his Telstra phone and then I can use it on my? This possible?

    • Is your friend lending you their simcard?

      • is it tied to the sim or is it to an account that he just need telstra to activate? couple of years ago he just need to activate it via the afl app.

        • It's tied to the telstra account. You need to have a Telstra mobile service, and you must activate via the Teltra network, not wifi.

    • +1

They need to give you their Telstra account details.

      • In that case… You dont want to do that.

  • Is it still crippled to be on a midget sized screen ? Be fine if I could sent it to tv. Shit even my laptop screen

    • Depends on the app and the broadcast rights. Which sport are you interested in?

    • Screen casting works from an Android device via Chromecast.. I've been doing it for years.

    • Is it still crippled to be on a midget sized screen ?

      yes

Add your account to Kodi (requires AFL Video add-on)

      • That's great will check it out

  • I have both a Telstra (work) and Vodafone account. Each year I activate the AFL app on my Telstra phone and then put the Telstra SIM card into my other iPhone and activate the AFL app there and then put both SIM cards back to their normal phones. After doing this I can free stream on my Vodafone AFL app with no issues.

  • What app do you need to download to watch the A-League? Searched Play store and could not find it?

    • +1

      "my football"

      • Thanks Circly.

  • Does anyone know who won the BBL this season?

  • +3

I have Telstra and my partner is Optus, all we do is hotspot off my phone and he logs into the app.
    Super easy.

  • Do you have to do it again if you already have used it?

Will they do NASCAR on mobile?

    • It has to be registered each year.

      • With NRL you don't, if you created a NRL account and linked the pass to it will auto-renew at $0
