Weren't they $300 off the other week? Wait for that again.

    • Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe the 'Not Pink' colour has been discounted in the past.

      • My sister got the Not Pink version at JB during the previous sale.

  • thoughts on these vs huawei P20?

Do you want the US or China monitoring you?

Why would anyone consider buying an expensive Huawei phone at all?

      • Fair call imo. I'm using my old Nexus 6P today as my Galaxy 8 Plus is in getting a new screen. The Nexus 6P (Hauwei made) was a mess. The battery dies constantly, has done since it was 6 months old.

        • +1

The 6p was an awesome phone. The only issue it had was the battery thing.

          • +2

@Munki: The battery issue was a massive and widespread one.

            https://www.xda-developers.com/google-huawei-nexus-6p-class-…

            • @[Deactivated]: It was, and my own phone was affected by it, but it still doesn't take away that it was a good phone.

              • @Munki: It was good whilst it worked, 6 months or less in many cases makes it crap though when it is a flagship expensive phone. Especially when Hauwei ignored the issues altogether.

              • @Munki: Must have been user error.

      • Why would anyone consider buying an expensive Huawei phone at all?

a p20 pro is cheaper than these nexus offerings, as its a cycle older

      • if you think that you, a nobody, would be closely monitored on a day-to-day basis, you're kidding yourselves lol. They'd get more info off your Facebook and your digital profile if they really wanted to know..plus it'd be cheaper and easier than a device tap.

Huawei def! Pixel has turned to overpriced shit phone with good camera. Nothing about it make sense with that price!

  • Don't ever get the small pixel 3. Google still haven't acknowledge the flicker and white flash issue.

    • Um what? I don't have any issue with my small pixel 3.

    • +2

There's been loads of issues on every pixel. I wouldn't spend anywhere near this on a pixel.

      • +1

Meh, "issues" are reported about most phones and they're generally pretty minor and blown out of proportion.

        • +2

This is the exact attitude of someone who hasn't experienced the issues. I'm on 7th RMA. My two mates who I recommended the phone to have had the VERY common call drop issue - telstra will refund you for this issue it's so common. Walk into JB with a pixel and they know that it's broken and laugh. My wife is on second P2XL. Will never buy pixel again. It's the most unreliable phone, and with terrible service in Australia with no physical stores and having to ship to HK is a huge pain.

          • +1

            @onlinepred: 7th RMA? Why?

            • @stockastics: Why what? I am waiting for another phone to come out I want, then will sell Pixel.

              • @onlinepred: Why go through the pain of returning the phone seven times and setting it up eight times?

                • @Caped Baldy: What? It's his phone, he paid a bunch of money for it, why would you not want it fixed?

                  • @escalier: Of course, don't be ridiculous. I've been at that point (three faults) but I just demanded a refund.

                • @Caped Baldy: Because I honestly thought the next phone would work. Everytime. Also I spent $1400 (I didn't pay it but that's the cost of it on receipt). It should really work, I don't want to have to deal with the loss of $$$ from selling it

              • @onlinepred: How come so many faulty phones?

                • +2

                  @stockastics: Probably user fault. lol

                  • +3

@Munki: Yep, user bought Pixel, that was the fault.

                • +2

                  @stockastics: Ask Google?

                  BT didn't work
                  Random reboot of death
                  Mic stopped working
                  Port stopped working
Screen turned black on call and wouldn't turn back on
                  Top speaker rattle
Current phone now has the camera app lag from lockscreen, and is dropping calls after a few minutes.

                  All these are known issues.

                  • @onlinepred: Oh man! I have the pixel 3xl..fingers crossed that it doesn't happen to me..

                    • @stockastics: Don't get me wrong, there are devices that have no issues, or users don't use certain features to see them. So you could be fine.

                  • @onlinepred: After using my 6P all day I've found that the BT is shockingly poor (I recall this was due to the metal body) and the mic and speaker quality are also very poor compared to the phone I replaced it with. Everyone I spoke to today on my phone commented on the sudden poor call quality, muffled sound.

          • @onlinepred: As a counterpoint, quite a number of my family and friends are running Pixels in various forms - regular and XL, Gen 1 to 3. At last count there are 14 of them in my social circle, including mine. The only issues so far have been a smashed screen (entirely the user's fault) and pop-up ads that turned out to be a dodgy side-loaded app.

I've found them to be of good quality, very reliable and the cameras are beyond comparison. And the older models are great value these days….the updates mean they're still getting features like Night Sight and they run far better than the equivalent era Samsung and LG models do now. The current generation is still too expensive for my liking, but those I know who have them are thrilled with them.

That's not to say they don't have issues, and I'm not trying to discredit your own horrendous experience.

Keep in mind that if the phone has issues, through Google store purchases, you must send to Hong Kong to get checked

  • Will JB price match Google store?

    • I went to JB and they did a price match.

      • @sharemyhead would they only price match the pink colour or were you able to get another?

        • +1

          Just the pink one.
