[PC] Crusader Kings 2, 75% off sale @ Paradox

60

75% off the base game (nothing exceptional about that) but also 75% off all DLCs except the latest one (Holy Furry). DLCs haven't been more than 50% off since 2016. You receive Steam codes, but if your Paradox account is linked to Steam, they will activate automatically. Pagan Fury (a new music DLC, also the band's name) is also 75% off but isn't listed on the sale page: https://www.paradoxplaza.com/crusader-kings-ii-pagan-fury/CK…

If you are interested in a modern recreation of pagan Northern European music, I recommend Wardruna and Heilige (the latter is incidentally the German word for healing, but this isn't tame New-Age music). You can watch an Heilige concert on Youporn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1BsKIP4uYM&feature=youtu.be

The DLC's have always been a day one purchase for me (how un-ozbargain), so I never played close attention. But I'm pretty sure the DLC's are always 75% off every major steam sale/paradox event, except for whatever the latest one at the time is.

Not that it matters. I've put it over 5000 hours on this game! It may seem expensive at first, but it's great value if you put the time into it.

    • These practices are what stop me from playing strategy games. The actual game is overpriced for what it offers and if you truly want the full game you have to spend hundreds on DLC or wait years for it all to release and buy it cheap on a bundle sale.

      • Totally disagree, especially in this case. CKII offers 100s of hours of replayability even without DLC. With each DLC they release a major patch as well, which always includes new features and mechanics.

So for about $15 or so for the base game, you're getting something that has been constantly worked on and improved for the last 7 years, which will offer as much gameplay as you possibly have time. Is it the full experience? Not anymore, but still well worth it. In fact it's how I'd recommend getting the game to begin with, as all of the mechanics from the DLC's make the game even more intimidating. It's better to pick those up later once you're used to the basics.

        • It didn't cost $15 at launch though, or at least I don't think so if the price of the base game right now on steam without any sale is 40USD. Not to mention all the DLC which even with a sale would have at the very least doubled that price and without a huge sale would have set you back hundreds if you decided to buy them as they released and not waited.
Of course it's a good value buy now because it's old as hell, you can say the same about Civilization V which often goes on sale for like 20 bucks with all DLC. I shouldn't have to wait to play the full game.

          • @Ostrk: The DLC mode isn't just a cash grab. The amount of content that's been added since, couldn't possibly have been there at launch. The game would have had to be in development for another few years and the studio wouldn't be able to sustain itself. Not to mention how unbalanced it would have been without the 7 years of consumer feedback, and how much worse the learning curve would have been, which would put off most of its audience.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree. If you haven't played it yet though, I'd suggest buying the base game with no DLC. It's the best way to experience it as a beginner. Then wait for the next sale and get whatever DLC interests you. You can mix and match with no problem.

  • That last dlc sounds….interesting. Do I have to wear it while playing?

  • A lot cheaper on EBAY due to the recent Humble Bundle that included it.
